Wetsuit on a budget?

I would appreciate if somebody could help me. I am doing my first triathlon on August 9th and am wondering if I should get a wetsuit. My swimming is pretty bad so I need all the help I can get.

I would like to buy but may just rent if I can't find a cheap one. Would I get away with wearing a shorty suit designed for surfing or windsurfing? I don't want to pay more than €100 which really limits my choices.

Yes you'd "get away with" shorty or surfers wetsuit, but bear in mind they'll severly hinder your swimming.

Cycle super store in Tallaght (www.cyclesuperstore.ie) have a rent/purchase scheme for wet suits. €100 for the wetsuit until the end of September (I think), then an extra €180 if you want to keep it after that.

That's a pretty sweet looking suit, Keith - like the minimalism.

You can't really buy suits online tho can you? Realistically you need to fit them on otherwise you have the hassle of sending it back if it's not suitable.

I've bought online because I was right in the middle of the height and weight ranges so it was safe-ish. I'm going to get a new wettie before November and probably won't go online this time to try and get the best fit.

Thanks for your help folks. I'm thinking about going with the aqua sphere suit from IrishFit. The only problem is that it's only 1.5mm.

had a loan of Aquasphere and didn't like it at all. If possible see if they have a try on one to let you swim in it. I haven't heard great reviews from Aquasphere at all.
