    Hey

Just bought a Dell Inspiron 1525, with windows vista. Today when i turned it on after the windows logo the screem turns off, but its still on because i can hear the start up sounds. and if i type in my password it starts up and i can hear the sounds that come on after u usually put ur password in. so it is actually working but the screen just turns off. If I start it up in safe mode then its grand and i can see the screen etc.

Last week when my contacts on MSN Messenger started getting links through messages from me, that i hadnt sent, and even when i was offline.. So im thinking its a virus. Does anyone know what i can do? Ive contacted Dell and they said i have to pay 80euro just to see if they can fix it.. :(

    Help!

do you have any antivirus installed.

if not run safe mode with networking and download AVG8 free and run a full system scan.

you might be having problems with your graphics cards drivers.

post the results of the scan.

Yeah i did, and i tried system restore.
The problem is when I turn on my laptop before it gets to the enter password section the screen turns off. Not just black, it actually turns off. and you can hear the usual vista sounds so its still on but u cant see anything.
But when i turn it on in safe mode it's fine, the screen doesnt turn off.
    Clearer?

Since I first posted, ive downloaded adaware, spybot, subscribed to macafee, avg, avast etc.. to try get rid of it. one of the scans picked up a Worm but none of them will take it off?
    Any suggestions?

Follow the steps in the sticky below, post the log in the Virus and Malware Removal forum:
    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055274237

Also don't bother with Adaware; it was fantastic a few years ago but has become outdated and is very ineffective at removing current day threats. Go with SUPERantispyware or MalwareBytes AntiMalware, both of which are linked to in the sticky.

I see you've downloaded a few antivirus programs; be sure to only have one running in realtime mode to prevent conflicts.
