Currently have digi max but we're thinking of dropping to digi value as we dont watch all the channels anyway.

Its impossible to see on the site the difference in the channels as theres no comparison page - just a bunch of logos...

    Anyone know the difference?

You get all the basic 17 analogue channels (utv, bbc 1&2 etc) aswell as 19 extra ones which are,
    Sky Two,
    BBC 3&4,
    More 4,
    UK Gold,
    DAVE,
    UK Drama,
    BBC News 24,
    Paramount 2,
    Virgin 1,
    Film 4,
    Sky Sports news,
    E,
    Bravo,
    Nick Toons,
    Nick Jnr,
    CBBC,
Cbeebies and ETWN that's all that is available(unless you want to subscribe to movies and sports etc then you can get more),so open up the max pack channel listings page and compare it to the above ;) .

Thanks, Do you get to keep Setanta and many of the discovery channels also?

Unfortunately not,you only get Setanta Ireland and the Discovery channel which you have already from the basic cable, you don't get any of the other Discoveries but look on the positive side they give you ETWN  :D

Most UPC areas don't have UK Style any that do I believe it will be being removed from the line up soon .

its in limerick and we only just got it a few weeks ago. so i doubt if they would add a channel and remove it a few later it would just be a waste of time.

True but it's UPC so you never know,I wonder then how many other counties have it if it's only one or two then I'd say it's only temporary.

Yes, i'm a digital cable subscriber in Cork city and the following channels were made avaiable at the beginning of July:
Uktv Gold; Dave; Virgin 1; Bravo; Uktv Style.
A.F.A.I.K. these channels are all owned by Virgin Media and their inclusion must mean a broadcasting deal with UPC.

Not entirely. The UKTV channels are also owned by BBC Worldwide.

No. While UKTV Gold and +1 were listed on the channel line-up, they were scrambled until recently. The digital line-up varies from place to place with Dublin(ex NTL) subcribers receiving the most channels. It is speculated that UPC are in the process of standardising the channel lineup in each region.

The BBC want to own the UKTV network outright also. It's not going to be easy or cheap for either side.

I think it's more than just speculation. All the line ups are going that way and the way UPC are running it, I don't see them wanting different rights with different contracts everywhere. I just wish they'd start adding more channels.

it takes time to do things

they have to talk to the channels owners and get the contract to have that channel.

they dont just com along and say we'll add this and that to our line up

    its not that simple

    UKtvGold+1;
    Bravo+1 and
    UKtv drama
are available on digital cable in Cork since this morning.

^They're really working on their Cork network it seems I'm shocked though that the UKTV channels weren't on it before now,how could you live without UKGold :D

Feckers! Contacted NTL/UPC to cancel the two boxes upstairs and downgrade the package.

They wanted €30. 10 for each card switch off and 10 for the package switch.

Thats outrageous, we have the service well over a year so its not like we're inside a minimum contract period.

^ I know it's crazy but you don't have to be in a contract for them to do it,they do it to anyone who drops packages,it's like a punishment for doing it  .
