Working in the Netherlands

Has anyone got any idea about working in the Netherlands (and i don't mean Amsterdam).

I'm struggling to find out exactly what an arch tech is over there, from what i can tell it's bouwkunde but that's a very broad occupation with many specialities.

Language should be a problem, I'm from Holland but living in Ireland the past 10 years, admittedly my Dutch in respect to arch tech isn't very great and will have to be worked on.

Reason I'm thinking about going there was that if I'm looking into going to London I might as well go a little further and go to the Netherlands. I'd be looking at going to Rotterdam or surrounding area's as I used to live in a suburb outside Rotterdam.

Has anyone here worked there, what was your experience, how hard was it to find work and are is there a place for an arch tech in offices there?

I've been meaning to call the Dutch Architecture institute for some time, should shed some light on this

Hang in there. You never know who may reply as we have a wide and varied lot here.

I actually call them worse than that at times. :D

I know there are a few Dutch here, just takes 1 of them to answer my question :D

I've given it a little taught only, there are reasons why i shouldn't leave Irl which are keeping me here for the moment. If nothing comes up in time at least i'll have some insight into going over.

    BUMP

I think I may be going over.... few things to think about and to talk to the GF.

Anyone experience working in Holland? Specially as a technician?

As in the 1st post, I still have to call the Dutch architecture association to try find out some info such as what is an architectural technologist in Holland. I've been keeping it as a last resort really but I'm just getting to fed up with not being able to find a job.

What would you recommend to do in preparation? I should prob start translating (or at least look up) some of the terms learned over the past few years that I don't know in Dutch.

Call the Dutch architecture association straight away and get all the info you can. One good thing is that most Dutch people have excellent English so help will easier to find out there.
