Check Device Manager (Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager) and see is it working ok.

Also, you using 2000, XP, or Vista.

When I plug it into my vaio(vista os) I can see it in device manager->disk drives & usb controllers. With my dell (xp os) I can see it under usb controllers only.
I put another drive into the casing and that worked,so casing ok.

I put it into the second slot in my dell.Under bios it could tell me it was a 500Gb drive and would not show up under my computer->manage->device manager or disk management,Setting were correct.

Possible drive letter conflict, try to remap the 2nd drive letter manually, google is thy friend!
