Depressing - don't know what to do with my life (career wise)

I have been looking to start a new career for a while now. Get out of the job im in now cause i hate it. I would like to start as a veterinary assistant. I left my cv into places im interested in and all im getting back are letters saying that there's no vacancies and my cv is on file. I have no experience but i am definately considering going back to college and doing veterinary nursing. I need to be employed to do the course. How can i get employment if no one is willing to give me a chance? I suppose people working with animals would like their work anyway, i can see why there wouldn't be vacancies.

I don't know why im here. Just a little rant, i suppose. It's so depressing being in a job i hate. People are probably going tell me to get out of it. But i honestly don't know what i would like to do if i don't get work with animals. I don't think il even like anything else. I have tried for work in kennels last year, and didn't get anything. I have started to do a distance learning course in animal care to show employers that i am interested. To be working with animals , you would have to be on your feet all day and be fit. I have spent the past year losing weight and getting fit, so at least i would also look as if i can do the work.

It seems as if everyone else around me knows what they want to do but im so lost. I don't know where im going to start to find my passion in life.

you could try to gain experience with animals like volunteer in an ispca kennels etc, would give you something else to put on the cv and might just help give you some of the enjoyment your not getting in your job

Try not to get so down. You would be surprised how many people go through exactly what your going through.

If your CV is being rejected, try calling. Make a list of all the Vets, they're aren't that many. Phone them, then phone them again. To get lucky you need to keep trying. When you do get lucky, you'll be surprised how quickly things can turn around.

Even though they say it in the letter. CV's are nearly never kept on file. the good thing about this is you can send your CV again and again to the same places.

Don't give up. You'll find something eventually, just keep trying.

An ex of mine was a veterinary nurse. She had a biology degree though.

If I were you I'd work for free every weekend (or whatever) in my local veterinary. Even if it's just cleaning ****, eventually they'll give you vet stuff to do.

And most importantly it's something for the CV.
