This will surely be up there with FullTilt in terms of numbers. Any truth in the rumours that the first couple of thousand new users will get an awesome rakeback deal + full superuser priviledges?

I'm pretty sure p5's is already owned by UB's biggest affiliate, so I don't know what could be in the press release that would make it worse.

I've often wondered have ANY of the people who have a pop off AP on a regular basis ever actually downloaded the site for just even the curiosity factor, because if they had they would see that if Absolutes's integrity is suspect, the biggest online network's is also.

    Look likes Stars????

Bar a few superficial diifferences it is the same software, obviously designed by the same people and seeing as it was a software designer who created the superuser account on AP it is not particularly hard to see that the capability would be there on Stars ( I'm not saying that it is happening )

you know what I just realised?

Firefox looks very like Internet Explorer. Bar some superficial differences, it is the same software, clearly designed by the same people. OMG HALP THERE ARE SUPERUSERS IN MY FIREFOX!

If you actually looked at the sites you will see they ARE the same

except for different colours slight layout changes, the FUNCTIONALITY of the sites are the same and refuting my point with some microsoft v mozilla comparision you are just highlighting your ignorance in the working of computers ( You'll be telling me next that green joker poker and paddy power are two completely different sites, a better example would be the old boyles site and ladbrokes, same software different networks )

My point remains, unless theyve stolen Stars software since I last played there.

Ok, I had a look, bit like Dunnes own brand coke, they were obviously told to get it as close as possible but its completely different.

the packaging YES but the internal workings are the same

look at the tables, cash game lobby tournament lobby's they are all structured the same but packaged differently. The navigation menus are the same but laid out slightly differently. The hard part in software design is the internal workings, so any company that designed a poker network ( or any complex software package ) is not going to reinvent the wheel for his next client but will alter the superficial bits and pieces so that at first glance they will look different but in effect will work the same. Also different clients will want slightly different structures arrangements etc. If you don't believe me get any one you know with a software design background to look at the two of them and they will confirm that it was written by the same company / people.

As for the coke analogy, about 20 years ago coke were forced to reveal what the secret ingredient ( 7x ) was and since then the "dearer" generic brand colas in dunnes etc are in pretty indistinguisable from the real thing

I'll agree that the menu up top is the same but everything else is just far less smooth and compact than Stars - not something youd expect from people after they had built Stars, I would have expected improvements if anything.

The instant hand historys are the same, the way the tables work is the same, that annoying beep warning you to hurry up is the same, the time clock funtionality is the same, the only real difference is the cashier etc is browser based on AP.

This thread got me thinking about who designed pokerstars and ap as there is no mention of it anywhere, but interestingly enough they bought started out life in that well know centre of software excellance Costa Rica.

The bigger picture ( and the point I really wanted to make before I got sidetracked ) is that I'd imagine ALL poker networks are at the mercy of the people who maintain them. The networks themselves have nothing to gain ( and everything to lose ) but it only takes one disgruntled ( greedy ) employee to create havoc and I'm sure anyone with half a brain and a superuser account could milk the games whilst not drawing too much attention to himself.

To quote a well known hustler on the Dublin Poker Scene

" You can shear a lamb often but only kill him once "
