don't take the packaging with you anyway. they're unlikely to hassle you if it isn't obviously new and even then you could probably get away with it

only if its being shipped. if you're carrying it back to ireland with you (eg. through the airport) nobody will give a damn.

according to the Cushion thats the case (with laptops) other stuff, especially that which fits in your luggage: yeah, its fine. I box my hard drive all the time for the extra foam packing in there. Never a question asked. Never had a laptop issue but i never had one boxed either. still I cant see any complication whatsoever. Its like them finding a box of condoms in there and asking if you paid tax for it

what tech we talking about specifiçificaly?

    1x Internal HDD
    1x External HDD
    1x Graphics Card
    1x Keyboard and Mouse
    2x Laptops
and some smaller junk most will fit with some clothes to cushion them but i dont want to take some of them out of the box so it protects them abit more like the Graphics Card

I was gonna edit later but the server backup happened.

It doesnt matter what it is, it can be any commercial product - theres no customs on it. the reason customs gets placed on items being sent to ireland is because of Irish port customs and the mail service. Items have to be scanned for drugs and all of that, and if you do find something, you cant charge anybody of course, since you only have the recipient, not the sender. This is why canadian websites were so successful sending drugs overseas for so many years. you dont have those same issues with flight luggage: if youre caught with it, youre the one trafficing it, youre the one screwed, and fined.

This applies to everything. there is no special rules for electronics and it confounds me why so many people seem to think differently but its just that.

The only time international customs gives a rats ass is if you are carrying suspiciously large amounts of cash or commercially resallable items - which in either case I think must roughly equal about $15,000. Good luck reaching that ceiling.

I've travelled in and out of Shannon and Dublin airports with a lot of macs in their boxes (work purposes) a good few times this year and no one has ever said anything to me.
