I see that this is an old thread, but I have the same question.

    Has anyone had one fitted?
Does anyone know anyone in Ireland that would supply and fit?

Check out audi A5 owners club: A5oc.com
There are a few on there who got them fitted. There are some irish members also

These people sell it and also are offical dealers:

    http://www.jdmproducts.com/

I spoke to them and it works out better value to buy the unit from the Uk and get them to install it.

I am going to get them to install it in my boxster.

    Thanks

I bought one on http://www.incaripod.com and it seems to be the best value. I will have a go at installing it myself (as I have already figured out how to remove the head unit), but I can fall back on that crowd if I get into trouble:o

Was doing a bit of surfing this morning for installation instructions while I am waiting for this to arrive.
It seems that I will need an "MP3 retrofit" software udpate for my BMW in order for this to work.

Any ideas on how much I can expect this to set me back? or if it is even possible on a 2004 520 (E60) that does not have a CD changer or Sat Nav?

    Worried now......:(

I would say drop it into a main dealer for a price or a good non dealer like AC Car sales

BraveDonut - any particular reason to go with the Dension over BMW's own retrofit kit ? Haven't seen fitting instructions for the Dension but the BMW kit looks very straight forward to fit assuming you've had the single slot coded for mp3s (mine isn't either).

Note: afaik you don't necessarily need a s/w update - you probably just need an exisitng feature enabled within the current s/w in your car which would presumably be conserably cheaper as it should be a much shorted job time wise.

I had a dension ice link before bought by jdm as posted above. Great kit but limited by the headunit. I now have a vw kit in my current golf and its basically the exact same thing..again limited by headunit(oem mfd2 sat nav screen which can't do text from aux or ipod). I heard the gateway 500 can over come this? Don't forget you can also then play video through them if you have an appropriate headunit.

Yes, the Gateway 500 can do this for you. We sell them for €395 incl VAT and are doing a special offer for March 09 of free installation with every piece of hardware. Book through the website at www.jdmproducts.com if you are interested.

Do you have some more details on "BMW's own retrofit kit"? I wasn't aware of this.
    Thanks

Used Autolux to install a bluetooth car kit, took weeks to get sorted but finally got installed. Assuming my first experience to be once off bad luck I later ordered a second kit for the wife but went through the same issues regarding trying to get a date to get installed. Finally got a date but then got a text that morning cancelling. No other date forthcoming. Eventually had to cancel as I got fed up being pricked around and decided to just get my deposit back. Second time and second chance but after 3 weeks of being very flexable regarding my availability for the installation I just couldn't wait any longer. Pity. Nice guy just lousy customer service and thats just trying to get installed....This is my own personal experience of using Autolux.

Update - Decided to give him another chance and called. He set a date and turned up per our agreed time. Installed the carkit and gave a great price due to the previous issues. Confidence restored, definately the best in town.:)
