Jaysus, didn't realise this was already in production.

Looks a good cast too (Liev Schreiber and Ryan Reynolds), alongside Jackman.

I think it's in post production now. :D
    Who's directing?

Gavin Hood who directed Tsotsi and Rendition. He'll still always be that ****ty actor from all those bargain basement sci fi and kickboxer fims to me though. :D

    Muthafuking Gambit. Savage

Ha! I was just checking out his somewhat underwhelming cv on the IMDB!

    Consider me absolutely not impressed!

+1 Easily my favourite and the best X-Men character and finally he gets utilised. Hopefully it's a pretty big role in the plot.

Hmm, not bad. Though there seemed to be a lot of walking / running / motorcycling away from explosions (though maybe not a bad thing considering 99.99% of 80's and 90's actioners had at least one key scene like these :D )

And was that a John McClane vs. fighter jet moment with Wolvey vs. a helicopter? :pac:

I'm gonna wait til a high quality trailer comes out. i had to switch off due to all the audience wooping and cheering.
    idiots
Seriously, why can't people just shut the hell up and watch the damn trailer!?

I'd actually be interested to see a huge action blockbuster with a loud American audience, part of me thinks it would be great fun, very stupid but it wouldn't take anything away from the film, it's not going to be hugely plot heavy, just once but I think if became the norm it would do my head in.

As for the trailer it looks really good. Very happy with Gambit being in it, who did the cast for that role by the way?

Taylor Kitsch is playing Gambit. He plays Tim in Friday Night Lights and was also in the strangly entertaining The Covenant and the cult classic Snakes on a Plane.

Have to say I'm looking forward to seeing Scott Adkins kick some ass as Weapon XI.

This looks like its gonna be something else alright and i cant wait :D And once i heard Gambit is gonna be in it, that sealed the deal for me as he is, and always will be the coolest X-Men character:cool:

+1 Wasn't looking forward to this till I heard Gambit was going to be involved. Although the idea of casting Reynolds as Deadpool just might take away from any good involving Gambit might do.

Is Gambit a major player in this one or just a background character?

From the trailer, Jackman, Schreiber and whomever is playing Stryker seem to be the main men in this.

The great Danny Huston is playing Stryker. I'm assuming that the inclusion of Gambit and Deadpool is intended as a spring board to their own film, much like FF 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer paved the way for the upcoming Silver Surfer film.

    Sounds bollocks to me.

Like they're doing it for nothing other than fan boy wankery.

I think it looks pretty decent but will wait until a better trailer is out to decide for certain.

One person and one person only, was born to play Gambit.
    Josh Holloway, ladies and gentlemen

Also, I hope Ryan Reynolds doesn't show his face to much. Deadpool is supposed to be disfigured horribly, which is why he is known as the "Merc with a Mouth".

why aint this just released on the web some place. Better if people actually get to see the real trailer! It'll probably suck which is the worst part!

Not too sure on this taylor kitch guy but sure we'll see. I'll probably be dissapointed. As with most people here I believe Gambit to be nothing less than a badass!

Trailer #1 is showing on the front of Day the Earth Stood Still in US theatres.

You might want to wait till Monday when its online (i presume) but here's a pretty crappy mobile-recorded version:

    Doesn't look half bad.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,711 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

From what you can tell from that trailer, it looks like it might be ok. It certainly can't be any worse than how X-Men 3 turned out. I know little about the characters though beyond the back story of the more major ones. I like though how fanboys have been getting uppity because gambit was shown wearing a purple shirt & not his more ... interesting attire :D

Just caught a few minutes of Wolf with Jack Nichelson on CH 4. There a scene where Jack is out in the wild half wolf have man chasing a deer. Nichelson would of been a fantatsic Woverine back in the day. Never been to crazy about Jackman

Just watched the trailer. Reminds me of Electra. I dont know if Danny Housten can even save this one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,216 ✭✭✭Kur4mA

Hmm, judging by that trailer they might actually pull this off. It doen't look TOO bad.

Wolverine real name was James Howlett and Sabretooth real name is Victor Creed and then how come they were brothers in the movie Xmen wolverine orgins, ps brothers have same surname. these guys clearly dont have same surname oh y they were brothers in the movie Xmen wolverine orgins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭wampyrus77

Sabretooth (Victor Creed) is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics supervillain and Wolverine is a fictional character, a superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Born as James Howlett

why wolverine and Sabretooth were brothers, clearly have dont have same surname

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

    They were half-brothers.

In the movie, they had the same mother who was married, Mrs Howlett, who had an affair with Mr. Creed (who carried the mutant gene) who already had a son called Victor.

Mrs Howlett bore Wolverine and raised it as a Howlett.

We see in the movie that Wolverine become more like his paternal father Mr Howlett a caring and gentle man. Victor is just like his father, rough and aggresive.

If you read the rather brilliant graphic novel Wolverine Origins then you will see that it is suggested that they are in fact brothers:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_(comics)

It was a crap movie for many many more valid reasons than that anyway.

The graphic novel has Wolverine as being a half brother with Dog Logan, son of Thomas Logan.

It has never been established that Dog Logan goes on to become Victor Creed, and given that Dog Logan's facial scars never healed it would strongly suggest he has no healing factor and is not Victor Creed/Sabretooth.

Paul Jenkin, the writer of that graphic novel, has said that Dog Logan was only meant be representative of the Sabretooth character in the same way that Smitty in that book was representative of Scot Summers and how Rose was representative of Jean Grey.

Right you are, it even says that on the wiki page, I always just assumed he was Sabretooth.

Did we really need a 2 ½ year old thread ressurected for the sake of a copy & paste from wikipedia? Wampyrus strikes again!
