its easy through a us broker.
    eg etrade
trading ->options -> sell to open
options are sold in batches of 100 called contracts and pricing is done on 5c increments
fees vary dependent on the size of your account. i pay 1.5usd per contract.

not so easy through irish broker.
i asked davy about buying/selling options about 2 years ago.
the first person i spoke to didnt know what they were. someone rang me back and said they would organise it for me but would need a weeks notice
and there would be a minimum trade size of 10000 euros.
    what a joke.
