My brother has decided to just get shot of his '98 Legacy 2.5 as it's overheating and there are other problems too that he's not prepared to take care of.

If he brings it to the local scrapyard, should he expect to get some money for it or will he have to pay them. It has leather, which is the only thing which might redeem it.

Doubt a scap yard will give him money for it.

If he has the time the best thing to do is strip it down himself and sell as many parts seperately as possible on the likes of eBay. These have more value sold seperately than together. For example, the leather interior should be worth a few quid alone.

Then get the remaining shell off to the scrap yard.

Maybe try a scrap metal dealer rather than a breakers yard ?
