    Don't bet!

Broad Meaning in the 6.20 Maiden Stakes looks the nearest to a peno kick today, the horse has one pretty good run under its belt, it should come on further but the odds reflect that fact.

Ok race week is beginning and ive always received some nice tips on this forum in past years.

5:10 Negus - was challenging for the lead last time out when brought down. Currently 5-1 available
5:45 Armarmarak - Not beaten far by Thousand stars in a recent run. Currently 16-1 available
6:20 Drumbeat and broad meaning are too short in this one, I wouldn't be on any favorite in 7F Maidens at Galway . I'm going to side with Kinetic Quest, not disgraced when a couple of lengths behind Drumbeat in a recent run. 25-1 currently available
7:00 2 Eachway here for me, 1st one is Indian Pace was only a couple of lengths behind Mis Fancy Pants in a recent run, and my second choice at a big price in Ballet Boy has beaten Flashy Beau and was not to far behind Queen Athlea in a recent run.
7:35 The Pott Reidy - Wasn't disgrace at ballinrobe last week when finishing in 4th place even after the saddle slipped in the last furlong, jockey had to ease up otherwise it would have won in my opinion. Currently 16-1 available

still to decide on my picks for the last 2 races

Usual disclaimer applies, although i killed the bookies at last years monday racing so here's hoping.

Gonna take it easy for the first day but I am going for a nice treble in: little eye 5.45 serpentaria 7.00 and gunavira in the 7.35. small money its worth a punt. there is talk on another thread of a massive gamble on lecanvey in the 7.35.

p'tit fute ew in the 7pm. 7/1 with boyles atm, but at ladbrokes he was 12/1 about an hour ago, so go to lads and back it, i think its at 10's now.

Galway - Monday 28th July - Good to Firm

5:10 Jewel Of The West: Should oblige under top weight after convincing performances at Bellewstown and Punchestown. Pillar Of Hercules provides the main threat but his price represents poor value. Mervyn Torrens Dancera is keenly weighted in this, and with Andrew Thornton knocking off another 7lbs, he's a good bet to run into the places.

-Jewel Of The West 1pt win @ 5/2
    -Dancera 1pt e/w @ 16/1

5:45 Quai Du Roi - NAP: Was lightly treated after coasting home at Bellewstown. With the excellent claimer Paul Townend chipping another 5lbs off, he should go close agin today. Stage Manager is about 4pts poorer in value than he should be courtesy of the Tony Martin - Ruby Walsh combination. Caravino is another who is lightly weighted and is worth an e/w punt.

    -Quai Du Roi 2pts e/w @ 5/1
    -Caravino 1pt e/w @ 8/1

6:20 Drumbeat: Goes without saying that the yard is not so much on fire as positively volcanic at the moment. I'm tentative to go near Broad Meaning at such short odds and Drumbeat provides the value default option. For a little e/w nibble, Ger Lyons Kinetic Quest could run into the places at tasty odds.

    -Drumbeat 1pt Win @ 15/8
    -Kinetic Quest 0.5pts e/w @ 25/1

7:00 Queen Althea: The pick of the Noel Meade runners, I fancy her to build upon solid flat form this year. Has a great chance of running into the places. Another for consideration is Mick Halfords Davorin who is currently the subject of a gamble from 20/1 into 11/1.

    -Queen Althea 1pt e/w @ 14/1
    -Davorin 0.5 pts e/w @ 11/1

7:35 The Pott Reidy: Having attended the Ballinrobe meet where he was 4th, my impressions of that run are he has more to offer. Certainly the value bet of the race. First In Command provides the real threat though offers good value also at 6/1

    -The Pott Reidy 1pt e/w @ 16/1
    -First In Command 0.5 pts e/w @ 6/1

8:10 Sinful Pleasure NB: Got off very lightly from the handicapper following previous wins. Can make this 3 in a row over the ideal 1m 4f trip.

    -Sinful Pleasure 1pt e/w

8:40 Hard And Fast: Can improve on Clonmel run and land the spoils here. Willie Mullins is always to be respected in bumpers and market moves on father & son combination Sheila's Castle should be noted.

    -Hard And Fast 1pt e/w @ 6/1

    Another couple of bets appeal to me this week;

Dermot Weld Not To Be Top Trainer: 6/1 with Paddy Power

Fran Berry Top Flat Jockey: 6/1

David Casey Top NH Jockey: 14/1

Loup Da Soubous in the 5.45. 16/1 :):)

Quai Du Roi - 5.45 - Trainer thinks he has an outstanding chance.

Kilshannig - 8.10 - Oxx has him laid out for Galway (although his horses are not running well).

As per usual, very competitive tricky racing (although not top class by any means).

I've laid this one pretty heavily. I watched it first time out and it didn't seem to me like a promising run at all, I was not wildly impressed with the horse. I just feel that if it wasn't for the Dermot Weld factor and the fact that Grey Swallow won this race in the past etc that it would be a much bigger price than it currently is and that makes it my lay of the day.

Indan Pace in the next. According to Brian Gleeson that is.
Told a relative of mine the other day this was his pick of the festival, e/w

That was a big price - Paddy Power knew.

Ouch. May have been beaten if Murtagh had stayed on the inner and not run wide.

I might try a little D Weld tactic tomorrow (need to see how many horses he has running) with a bunch of different combination doubles and trebles covering all entries.

Obviously not. 4 winners in 1 day. Should have been more like 16's not to be top trainer

    Punchestown,

Did you read exactly what the Paddy Power price meant?

Essentially they were saying that he was 1/8 to be top trainer.

I am not sure how much more confident they could be about something???

It was obviously not that big of a price as I doubt many punters backed it at 6's because it was too short and surely the art of bookmaking is about taking bets from punters when the odds aside from being in your favour are tempting to punters. Anyone with half a brain knows D Weld goes to Galway every year with a very strong team and invaribly wins top trainer by a proverbial distance. Where bookmakers quote only price for one side of the equation its usually cos they want to keep the other side of the market for themselves. If 1/8 was available on weld being top trainer, they would have been bombarged with punters buying money. To my mind the price Powers had him at was 1/25 to finish top trainer and the 6/1 not to was just an attempt to lure a few quid from the mug punters
