Hi guys, a friend and i are planning on starting a club in donegal.
Heres the press release, maybe there are some people on the forum from Donegal,

    73,
    Paul.

    Amateur Radio in Donegal

Are you interested in becoming involved in Amateur Radio? A licensed radio experimenter can operate two-way radio equipment from almost anywhere, and can talk across town or around the world.
The scope and possibilities are endless and include, for example, experiments with home-built equipment or antennas, sending TV pictures, operating through satellites, or just having a quiet chat with friends at home or abroad.
A meeting about amateur radio will take place on the 6th October at 8pm in the upstairs lobby area of the Mill Park Hotel.
A small group of current radio amateurs and people hoping to get their license are going to meet in Donegal Town. This will be the first of regular meetings over the coming months. The existing amateurs will only be to happy to help anyone interested with getting their license with the process. An exam will take place next summer for the licence and we would love to help anyone with an interest to sit and pass the exam.
It is also hoped that the club will be useful for existing amateurs to stay in touch, socialise, and plan projects etc.
Anyone who is interested can email Jason McGarrigle on ei6grb@dxireland.com or Paul Sinclair on paul@paulsnet.org. We will give any more details you require or just come along on the night. Everyone from all over our extended area is welcome.

    From IRTS News

    ENGINEERED...A WEEK OF WONDER!

Engineers Ireland will host a "week of wonder" for
Primary and Post Primary students in February 2009.
IRTS in collaboration with Engineers Ireland will run a
number of workshops at Engineers Ireland's Dublin
headquarters. These will consist of a two-hour, hands
on, programme which will act as in introduction to
    communications and radio technology

The Society also intends to package the programme so
that clubs around the country will be able to run
similar workshops. We have already approached a number
of clubs and they have indicated their willingness to
participate by running one or more workshops in their
area. Engineers Ireland will provide clubs with local
partners such as technical schools or libraries who are
    anxious to participate.

The Society would urge clubs to commit to becoming
involved as soon as possible. There are obvious
benefits for all involved. With the programme packs
provided by the Society, clubs would need three or four
personnel to run the workshop. If your club or group
are interested in helping out, contact Paul EI2CA on
    087 2523908 or by email to paul /at/ comma.ie

Engineers Ireland & Limerick Radio Club Limerick Radio
Club has agreed to participate in the event from
February 9th 13th which will be held at the Limerick
Institute of Technology, Moylish, Limerick. Further
details will be announced prior to the date. Any member
willing to participate in this event is asked to
    contact ei4lrc /at/ eircom.net.

More than 300 lighthouses in more than 51 countries --
from Argentina to Wales -- will be on the air for the
    2009 International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend.

The event, held for the 11th year in a row, takes place
    Saturday, August 15 0001 UTC-Sunday, August 16 2359
UTC. While not a contest, the ILLW is more of a QSO
    Party and Amateur Radio demonstration.

The ILLW aims to raise public awareness of lighthouses
and lightships and the need for their preservation and
restoration, promote Amateur Radio and foster
international goodwill. Stations at more than 40 US
lights are expected to be on the air for the event,
and several stations will identify with special event
    call signs.

Live web broadcast of the Huntsville Hamfest from Huntsville, AL

Live broadcast starts Friday Aug 14 at 0800 CDT or 1300 UTC as we drive the 200 miles to Huntsville, AL.

Just as we did on our Dayton hamvention event, we will be giving prizes to a lucky viewer this year. See details on the website at http://wa5kub.com

We will be broadcasting live video and audio of the 2009 Huntsville, AL hamfest this year via the internet. The live broadcast begins on Friday morning, Aug 14 at 0800 CDT (1300 UTC) as we depart Memphis, TN and drive to Huntsville. Just as we have done before, we will be broadcasting our drive live from the car. Then we will broadcast the hamfest all day Saturday Aug 15 and Sunday Aug 16. We expect hams to be taking part in the Huntsville hamfest from all over the world. We have had viewers in over 150 countries. Hams will be able to join in with a real time chat room while they are watching the video. Viewers will also be randomly selected throughout the event for some nice prizes.

An APRS map at the bottom of the web pages shows you our position. Watch as the helmet cam takes you on a virtual tour of all the tables and booths there.

If you can not be there in person go to http://wa5kub.com or http://w5kub.com and join in all the fun.

Please help pass this information on to all hams and clubs.

    Thanks,

    Tom Medlin, W5KUB
