Hotspot Shield - How to use it?

Hey I'm trying to use this program, http://anchorfree.com/downloads/hotspot-shield/ ,downloaded it, then when I open it I get a screen with this

State:
Disconnected
VPN IP Address:
Not Set

So then I click on connect and I get

State:
Starting VPN Process
VPN IP Address:
Not Set

So what am I doing wrong? Do I have to set the VPN IP Address? (whatever that is) and if so how do I set it?

Yes, you need to set it. Basically what HotSpot Sheild does is create a Secure Tunnel to a server from your laptop. Meaning any info sent to the hotspot is unreadable (Not true). It provides basic protection but to be honest, I'd keep hotspot use to the minimium because all it takes is a man in the middle attack and it should undo any protection.

Of course the OP may be using it as it provides a US IP address allowing him to view streaming TV shows from the larger networks.

Also it should be noticed that with Hotspot Shield there is a monthly limit of 10gigs or something, after which you can't use it, the icon will never switch from yellow to green... So don't be downloading big files while it's running...
