Beginner Advice

    Hi,

I'm another beginner looking to get into photography and have narrowed down my search to a Nikon D60 or a Canon 450D. Now I already have a Canon EOS 3000N film which I got a few years ago but I never used. I'm going to switch to a digital SLR and learn how to use it properly (take classes etc). Is the film Canon I have worth anything? Should I bother trying to sell it or is it only worth pittance?

It has a Canon EF28-90mm f/4-5.6 II lense with it, I presume I could use this canon lense with the 450D if I got that? i.e. would it make more sense to try and just get the 450D body and use the lense I already have?

    Any advice much appreciated, thanks.

Yes, you can use your EF lens with the Canon 450D.

The kit lens would also make a good addition to your lenses, so no harm in getting the body and kit lens.

Best advice - go to a shop and see how the camera feels in your hands.

I'm about ready to move up from my 450D to a 40D, pity I just spent over a 100 euros on 3 8ig SDHC Kingston mem cards! Fairly sure they're not compatoble with the 40D.

But you can keep those SDHC cards and use them in your 1D MkIII when you buy one. :D

Just skip the XXD group go straight to the 1D :D

Also this is going off topic..

Definatly go and see how each camera feels in your hand, OP.

    Thanks for the replies,

Going to go into a shop and have a feel of it in my hand and then reckon I might go for the Canon 450D with the kit lense on Komplett.ie
