Ever have an idea that you wanted to put on paper, and then you get bogged down by the nitty gritty, etc.

well I do. frequently. which is why when I heard of this for the first time yesterday i snatched it up, gave it a lash - its incredibly easy to use.

First time I saw it was when someone posted up images for his idea of a video game level, but really works great for a lot I suppose.

Who kept it a secret anyway?

This has been out ages. It is extremely easy to use and to pick up. And it's 100% free.

Considering AutoCAD costs about €3000, it's pretty good.

Try Blender 3D instead.. (blender.org). Less intuitive, but much more powerful. Free, of course.

I know blender. its a pain in the gee. I much more favor the intuition, im in it for the speed not the fine accuracy or anything like that. first time i saw sketchup was in screenies for someone's concept for a Team Fortress 2 map (before they went and actually modelled it in the Source SDK)
