Slow Eircom speeds in Limerick city?

For the last 8 months by eircom download speed has slowed considerably.

I used to get over 200kbs (on average) while downloading. But for some reason this has has dropped to around 56kbs and not risen above it. I live in the Limerick city area and there is a large construction project less than a 1/4 of a mile from where I live ( the limerick tunnel) and was thinking they may have upped the people using the copper wire (if so I recieved no letter about it).

Its defiently not an issue with my pc and this is the only explanation I can think of. I am going to ring tomorrow as I have lost patience.

Was just curious to see if anyone else had a similar issue.

Post line stats, the usual cause of a problem like this is almost always the simplest, eg. internal wireing, faulty filters, faulty modem etc. And very very rarely a problem or change on Eircoms end.

my download speed is 360/kbs while my upload is 311 kb/s which I found odd.

Its not the OS as I have used windows xp, ubuntu and now vista and the problem is still the same.

    Firmware is up to date.

    Can't figure it out.

Thats about as useful as a glass hammer. Go into your modem menu and get your line stats, you're looking for Line attenuation, connected speed and SNR. You're modem menu will probably be here http://192.168.1.254/

What package is this on? You should be definitely running faster than 384kbit with those line stats. Interesting that you are on a fast data path and not interleaved, this seems to be the obvious problem but interleaving is something I definitely don't know much about. I wasn't even aware that Eircom would take off interleaving.
