Now it might surprise some posters that the Flutt is a staunch GAA and especially a hurling fan, in fact is a former inter county hurler:eek:

    yes true.Full forward F Bantam:D

Listening to the commentary of Wex/Wat out on the deck, must compliment Martin Kiely on an excellent commentary .

Now it's not perfect, too many stupid "facts" hurley weights ,bos dimensions, etc etc, poor pronunciation "Simple Stadium",however one can overlook those obvious annoyances and say well done to Martin who afik is relatively new to the job and certainly shows promise.

Posting this to show I'm not a total knocker of RTE, I give credit where credit is due.

Game over and Waterford win, well done to Martin, got stuck in and was excellent apart from the items I mentioned.

Now.. debriefing,I'm sure there must be a debriefing.

Let some of the RTE heads who post here tell us license payers.

Tony Considine who was the c0-commentator,was excellent, apart from one thing.

He said "done" instead of "did" with unerring accuracy, jaysus, fcuked my head in with that big time, big big time.

    Now de briefing?

Someone from RTE comes in and says"Marty, well done, excellent commentary, tone down on the obscure facts a bit , but well fcukin done man!!

Tony.. the past tense of do is "did" It pisses people off bigtime if people on national radio use "done" kinda marks one down as a ..well.. knacker... can you sort that out before the next game??
If you can call us back, if it's a prob. well we can get someone else??

    Tell me this happens...

I have to agree that Martin's commentary was excellent. I heard him commentate the night before on Limerick and Kildare in the foootball qualifiers and that was even better. He sounds really fresh and energetic and seems to know the games very well.

I think GAA commentary in general has got a bit stale so it was so exciting to hear a new voice liven it up a bit.

Sure there are areas he needs to improve on but as a future commentator I reckon he has an awful lot of potential. I hope we hear more of him.

Did you know that Martin Kiely was an All Ireland Handball Champion at senior level? ;)

I agree that he's a very good commentator, he keeps up with the play and is very enthusiastic about his sport.

    .

Surprised all right --- how could you last seventy mins without a "Blow" in the Dunnie ?

Have to agree re Martin Kiely (I'M still trying to understand some Irish accents) good commentator..is it not Simple Stadium ??

As for a debrief forget it pal....the big wheels in the "cattery"do not do debriefing...especially when it might benefit the listner.

Having said that though - Good show RTE.

Notice how the usual "cattery" heads are not posting on this one ..not GAA fans ??
