I'm guessing this is 31st July (unless they're advertising their offers 5 weeks in advance!)

to be honest, i have used a few bp monitors and none gave an accurate result and its dead easy to use the old fashioned sphy and stethescope and far more accurate

Oh yes, the old fashioned sphy and stethescope are much better. I must get mine from my medical bag where I've a comprehensive selection of medical equipment.

All well and good when its quiet, but try being in a first aid post beside a stage at a concert or in an ambualnce on the way to a&e, the best ypu can do with the noise is get it over palp, or be really inaccurate and just watch the needle bounce :p

God bless electric bp monitors and spo2 monitors make life alot easier

I think I read before that the upper arm ones have better accuracy than wrist ones. Something to do with it having to be at level of heart. Try googling.

    just one line from Wikipedia
Digital portable wrist blood pressure monitors with automatic inflation. These are more convenient for travel purposes.

The link in my first post doesn't work any more (and the system won't allow me to edit it) so here's new one: http://www.lidl.ie/IE/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20080731.p.BloodPressureMonitor

Thanks for your sarcasm, if you want some inaccurate bp monitor, by all means you get one but I have used some cheap ones and they are very inaccurate while the "old fashioned" ones are not expensive and more accurate and easy to use. I have seem electronic ones give high readings when bp is actually normal.
Fyr: Most people here are not in a first aid post beside a concert, they are in the comfort of their own homes. Don't know who you work with but we're not allowed use electronic ones due to inaccuracies, spO2 is allowed alright but sphyg and steth.

I have no experience of this particular model but I decided to chip in as I have a blood pressure monitor from Lidl that is excellent. I've owned a few over the years, both high end expensive ones and a few cheap ones, and I've noticed no correlation between price and quality from them (that might just be very lucky of course). It hasn't been my experience that any of them have been erratic with readings so long as you follow the instructions.

The model I own from Lidl has been the best one I've found. I have very low blood pressure and even the electronic arm cuff monitors in the hospital often fail to detect my BP when it's very low. This has been true of a few of the expensive ones I've owned too.The Lidl model never fails however and I've had it checked against the sphyg and steth several times to ensure it's accurate.

Anyway I'm not saying rush out and buy this but don't dismiss it either on the basis of it's price or the fact that it's from Lidl. I'd say bring it to the Dr and record your bp both with it and the sphyg and steth to make sure it's working ok if you're worried. Also you shouldn't let these machines be your absolute guide. If you feel somethings wrong but the machine reads ok ,see your Dr anyway.

On recent performances I suggest you watch the Cork hurlers next game to measure blood pressure ;-)

If its for home then they're hardly going to own a sphyg and stet let alone be profecient in thier usage.

We're allowed use them no problem, standard piece of kit for ambulances and fap's alike.

Yeah this is one of my old threads..... I think Aldi and Lidl had these on sale again recently for about €15. So check out them out k123456, they might have a few left in stock, if not try Argos.
