Effect of jam jars in cisterns...?

A question for the plumbers. I put jam jars into the toilet cisterns in a bid to conserve water. This prevents the ballcock from dropping completely. They can only drop an inch or two. I wonder, over time, would this have an adverse effect on the water inlet mechanism?

It wouldn't cause any harm to the cistern ,but you might get blockages in the soil pipe ,from lack of flush water.

The ballcock can be adjusted so that it doesn't rise as far. Make sure you have enough water to send a friend to sea though:D

:D:D:D. Do you mean the jars can be taken out and then adjust the ballcock?

Yeah ,if its a standard ballcock there should be a little screw that pushes against a valve to turn the water off.
Normally you can decrease the gap by twisting the screw and ballcock will turn off the water sooner.
