I know there's no Stereo Bluetooth on the iphone, So playing your tunes throught the car kit is out of the question without an adaptor...

Something like this is what you might need http://www.ipodnn.com/articles/08/07/17/iphone.a2dp.adapter/

If your big into music which you must be to have an iphone you could be better off with a car kit like this http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits/parrot-mk6100

I'm unsure wheather using the adapter and the parrot kit would give you true stereo with the iphone....

I read somewhere that apple have disabled the bluetooth in some way so it's only comptiabe with apple or apple partner products.....

I'm sure some op will shed some light on this....

Not Hijacking this thread but I was also wondering how the iPhone works with the Nokia CK-7W bluetooth handsfree kit?

I have had non stop trouble with my last three phones not connecting properly or only working in half duplex mode, if fact the only phone that has worked successfully with the CK-7W kit was an old Nokia 6300 I had a few years ago.

The iPhone & CK-7W will work but there person at the other end will hear really bad echo of themselves.I had a similar problem with the Motorola V3 & CK-7W. (I'd imagine that it's the same story with the Ck-1W)

I have been thinking about buying a Parrot CK3000 Evolution. I was hoping that with an independent manufacturer it might be better suited to more than just Nokia phones. That & the fact that you can get an adapter to allow use of existing steering wheel controls to control the Parrot car kit.

Thanks for that rebel.ranter, ahh balls so the iPhone is going to be as bad as any other phone I have tried with the CK-7W then! Have you tried fiddling around with the settings/volume levels much, is the echo on the callers end bearable? can you hold a conversation?

I thought bluetooth was supposed to be universal and standardised!

This reeks of Nokia intentionally making their car kits malfunction with non Nokia handsets!!!!!

I've got a ck3000 sitting at home in a bag, I faild to get it working in my c200 kompressor, do you know if it can be set up to work with the steering wheel controls in a 02 mercedes....if you can't I wouldn't mind off loading it;)

The 02 Merc doesn't use the sim access profile so can't get to your car kit that way. The only way it will work is to use a nokia 6100 or some achient phone or a device that makes your phone "look like" and 6100. Either way its about €300 for the box so its usually not worth it.

Yes you can get it working with the Merc steering wheel controls.

AutoLeads, Connects2 or CAM8 make a suitable adapter.

There are 2 types of adapter:
    - One that you can use to avoid cutting/splicing/piggy-backing wires to get power/mute. This one also allows the use of the car speakers instead of the Parrot one .
    - The other adapter lead is the one that allows the Parrot kit to interface with the steering wheel controls, see below:

    Is your kit a ck3000 or a ck300 evolution?

AKAIK (without more Googling) there is an adapter for that too. Does that one have a screen? I am not that interested in the screen personally, I just want to be able to use any make of phone without echo!

I switch between N95/iPhone/K800i/w580i regularly & only the N95 works well with CK-7W.

To the post regarding echo, from your end everything will sound fine, it's the person on the other end experiences the echo. Reducing the volume reduces the echo somewhat but not completely eliminates it. It was really bad when I was using the V3.
It's a good way to get someone off the other end though!:D
