I have NTL broadband and currently have a wired connection on my desktop - ntl wire goes into modem and it goes into PC.

I now have an iPod touch - can I have both a wired and wireless connection at the same time.

I used to have a laptop and used Linksys 2.4ghz router and it dropped the connection occasionaly. With the desktop I tried putting NTL cable into router and connect the router to the modem and the pc but the connection (looks like big telephone connection) was too big.

Probably explaining very badly  - so I suppose the first part of this is can I have both types of connections or do I need go get a wireless card for my desktop?

There is no problem having both types of connection at all you just need the right equipment. Could you tell us the model number of the linksys?

Normally if the linksys is whats known as a cable router you would connect the linksys to your ntl modem and then all the rest of your stuff to the llinksys.

From what you say your linksys may have a dsl modem built in and thats what would cause trouble for you.

You need to connect modem to the router - and then you forget about the modem:) make sure that your connection from the modem to the router is to the port that is very slightly apart from the other 4. Think of it as feeding the internet signal from the modem to the router and then the router spreads the signal on either by wire or wireless.

Then connect your computer to one of the four ports on the linksys.

then you need to set up your wireless connection for the itouch.
