help a virus has got me

    i went to a website from youtube. i registered so i could see the videos then something downloaded into my comp all my picassa pics were deleted and i cant save anymore. my documents have things like bonjour and batman in them. it had created lots of new folders and deletd others. i have AVG but it doesnt notice it.
    i have tons of new applactions though i dont play ay of them for fear of urther damage ok any help appreciated

    Linux can be exploited too...not as much (so far) as Windows but nothing's perfect.

    Backup what data you can, not applications or executables, then format and reinstall. Any AV or other countermeasure you put on now will likely be killed by the malware before it has a chance to do anything contructive.
    If you do like to install lots of freeware and follow links like those around (not a criticism) then invest in an AV suite with HTTP scanning and ideally strong IPS functions (Kaspersky has more functionality but is also more complex, Nod32/Eset is a little simpler but has a stronger pure AV record, both would be a step up from AVG for your needs (AVG is a great product but if you like installing a lot of web stuff then you will need something better).
