Can you mention model numbers, and are they compliant with Irish radio regs?

If you can't get model numbers, could you tell us the transmitter frequency and power. UHF is kind of a broad spectrum. And most of it is licence-only operation territory.

If these come with remote mics and chargers I will offer €50.

Please do not post contact information on-thread. Boards.ie provides the means to attach photos in posts. Just use something like photobucket or flickr or some other webspace that you may have to link to the photos.

sorry did not realize about the email addresses. I will find a link. Sorry it appears i wasnt clear on the price. it wass my fault for the way I priced it. I ment to say around the "€60 EACH" mark. They are good quality radios and radios of this quality would normally cost around 200 each. and about 500 brand new. they are currently sold on Ebay. the prices vary. I am not looking for anything more than they ask for on ebay but they ask for postage too. I do not know a great deal about them so I can not help there i'm afraid. more infor can be found on ebay simply by putting in Motorola HT 600E and it will show various for sale. I do not have the charger for the m as they are surplus from a larger sale with 6 way chargers which have been sold. however a charger and various additional radios can be purchased for low prices on ebay.

I'm not trying to shaft anyone. I will accept an offer that people feel is fair. I will consider a trade for a metal aeg or decent sniper rifle if anyone is interested. As far as i'm aware they do not need a license but I cannot be sure. they have a range from (if yiou know dublin) Tallaght to Rathmines which is quite high without using a repeater.

If I ca answer any more questions I will do my best.

    Cheers

    SS

sorry did not realize about the email addresses.

Have a read up on the rules.

Tallaght to Rathmines is over 5km, which would be the range of PMR446-permitted power output of 0.5w. In reality with buildings and terrain in the way, 0.5w would get you less than 5km - probably around 1 to 2km. The specs (what preliminary ones I could find) for these radios list the power output as being 4/5w which requires licensing as far as I'm aware. I'm open to correction by someone with better knowledge of radios than I.

Not sure if the units are reconfigurable down to 0.5w (some radios are), but you may want to consider this as will anyone interested in buying these radios. The advert isn't illegal as best I can figure (hence I'm leaving it be) since it's up to the operator to ensure everything is legal when operating the radios.

Youre right there Sir Lemming....this country is restrictive with radio communications.

They come with the speaker mics and with an extra battery each. as I said they are just surplus stock. I had no problem buying them From the radio shop that sold them (radioswap.co.uk) and they sell in the UK no problem. Maybe if you would like to contact them they can provide more info fo you.

And the range from tallaght to rathmines is what I was told by the Guy who bought them off me and he was more than happy. I cannot verify that because I was not there but I never had any issues with range. Any test is welcome to any serious buyers.

The legislisation in the UK relating to radio comunications equipment is different to that in Ireland.

The main difference being that in the UK you do not necessarily require a license to possess a transmitter but you do need a license to transmit with one (unless on a license exempt frequency allocation).

In Ireland you require a valid license issued by Comreg (www.comreg.ie) to even possess a transmitter unless on a license exempt frequency allocation. This is governed by the 1926 Wireless Telegraphy Act and its subsequent ammendments

    Quote from Comreg website begins:

The possession and use of radio equipment in Ireland is governed by the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1926, (Act No 45 of 1926pop-up.gif), (as amended), which stipulates that an appropriate Wireless Telegraphy licence must be held, unless licence exempted.

    Quote from Comreg website ends.

    See http://www.comreg.ie/radio_spectrum/licensing.541.html for further details.

Since you have stated that the sets are UK ex-police I can assure you that you need a license to possess these sets in Ireland.

My advice is for you to either return them to the dealer or return them to the dealer pending the issue of the appropriate licenses from Comreg.

I work professionally in this field so you can be assured this information is accurate.
