    Hi,

I'll try and keep this short,

1)Two months ago i asked my boss if she could pencil in a weeks holidays for me in september.(i needed to confirm if others going on holiday could get dates off before i confirmed dates)

2)She penciled in the dates and mentioned that she was delighted i was talking time off as i have only talken 4 out of my 20 days so far.

3)I asked her to confirm the dates off today as i am definitly going on holiday then.

4)She refused- she said that Sept is going to be a very busy month and that she cannot confirm dates.. she is also moving position and will not be my manager from mid sept on(my holidays fall early sept)

5)She said i will have to ask new manager when they start in late Aug..(she has to do handover of work for few weeks)

Am i incorrect in saying that my manager is being completely inconsistent and considering she is my manger now and will be my manger during time off that she should either confirm or deny my request.

I have already changed the dates of the holiday to suit her as my initial dates did not suit her, and the dates i am asking for now are the dates she suggested to me initially!!!..

Q1:should i wait untill new manager starts and ask them about time off..

Q2: If she(current manager) refuses my time off do i have to change the dates of the holiday again (and inconvenience all the ppl i am going with to change their time off work) can i argue that it was she who suggested those dates...

If i leave my holidays untill later i fear i will not get them at all and i also have 15 study days(as per my contract) to fit in arond end Oct/Nov as i am sitting accounting exams in Dec!....

    Any suggestions?

IMO the most sensible way would be to try and resolve it internally, Speak to your HR dept and find out their stance with regards to the situation - they will hopefully be able to assist.

Only other alternative internally would be to speak to your managers manager and ask them for assistance in the matter. As you know a company isn't obliged to give you the dates you want (if reasonable business decisions prevent them) - it sounds to me like your manager is thinking they don't want to be short staffed during the transition period.
