Is that set in stone or just word of mouth. Are there any official websites stating it.

simply put, you have to be able to prove that you are a skirisher, a letter from the skirmish site confirming that you are booked should be fine.
Looks like wormbyte is organising the event, so it shouldnt be a problem.

You actually have to get a letter from the site and/or organisers saying that the items you're bringing with you are for personal use at that event. I cannot remember the exact specifics of it but there is a clause set out for it. Contact the event organisers and they should quickly sort out what documents you'll need to bring.

Looks interesting. How do Aegs and sniper rifles comapr to that of the uk seen as they have a higher fps limit? Do you upgrade yours when you get there?

What is the limit in the UK?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,809 ✭✭✭Stokolan

I should have said Im only going by the limits that are in the rules for that event not sure what the uk are. The aegs is not much higher but the sniper is.

    350fps (recently changed from 345 to 350) AEG's, Shotguns & Pistols
500fps Sniper Rifles (Single-shot AEG) with a minimum engagement range of 25 metres.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

That's not a huge step up, a simple spring change before and after the event should cover you for that, no?

I might go - it's the week after Operation Arc Angel in Birmingham so we'll see ...

THere's another TA event in November (Phoenix Rising 3) as well.

    Hi Guys
The FPS limit in the UK is the same as here.
    The law states 328fps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 589 ✭✭✭Beast ASI

Actually it's different, but the law's aren't black and white so there's no defined power.

1.3J for AEG's, which is about 380ps or so, and the sites usually go up to 350fps and pretty high for bolt actions - Usually the highest sites go to is 500fps.

its been creeping up used to be 328 with .2 for a long time on aeg and 500fps on semi/bolt action (well 5 years ago when i lived in England and first got into airsoft ) but as beast said the law is a little up in the air and some site allow up to 350 know but this is not really a universal limit each site sets there own

    Do go on....

Airline travel with an AEG is fairly straight-forward (bar the occasional overzealous security person which essentially equates to about 20/30 minutes added to your travel arrangements).

Book flights. Ring airline; make additional payment of 'firearms charge' which also means they know what's going to turn up at the airport. Turn up. Declare. Be prepared for inspection & questions. Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir will get you through in reasonable order. On the other side, train/coach-bus/taxi. Depending on numbers, a minibus may be organisable.

It's that easy. Transporting an AEG isn't something akin to nuclear-materials movement. Use some common sense and you'll be amazed at just how easy it is.

With regards the VCRA, a letter from your local site stating you have played recently and a letter/confirmation of attendance at a desired site in the UK should see you through.

But aren't there only a limited number of airlines that will carry them?
    I know Ryanair wont.

You could always get the ferry and drive

    I would reverse that statement to read;

"Only a limited number of airlines wont carry them."

Ryanair being the only one I've encountered thus far.

It was a question, not a statement.

But thanks for the heads up.

But thanks for the heads up.

Only two carriers have caused any sort of problem during my frequent research into travel with AEGs; Ryanair and IrishFerries.

Everyone else (or almost everyone else at any rate) has some sort of procedures for transport of anything resembling a firearm (including paintball markers & airsoft)

    Even Ferries?
    Wow.

I remember when we used to get Ferries to the UK, your car was never checked the way you would be if you were flying.

Anyway, back on topic, seriously considering this now.

Yes. Even ferries. You can go on an IrishFerries vessel. But if your car gets a random search and your kit found; you're up the creak. So I wouldn't recommend it. At all.

No, I wouldn't risk it, and endager the sport.

I might be heading to this. Haven't decided yet though. Will need to look at flight costs.

I should point out, anyone considering going to this will need a lot of extra kit beyond a normal skirmish. It's a 24hr woodland game. You'll need to be self-sufficient and have bergen and so forth to carry your gear.
