NTL Availability in Shankill

Hi There, have been an EsatBT customer for years, but due to the discrepancy in speed availability, am contemplating moving to NTL. However, having rang them this afternoon, friendly but un-knowledgeable sales person informed me that these services are not available in my area. Given that I know that NTL/UPC broadband is available in the larger Shankill area, I'm looking for a second (more informed) opinion. Any NTL/UPC broadband users in the south Shankill area (Crinken Glen, Castle Farm, etc).

    Thanks for any helpful guidance..

Unfortunately, I can't give you a specific answer as to whether NTL broadband is available in the larger Shankill area but I can provide a little insight that suggests that it should be.
My parents recently purchased a house in Shankill - in a new development called Olcovar - and NTL provision has been included throughout the house for cable and broadband. Now, logic would suggest Tudor Homes, the developers of Olcovar, included NTL due to both price, attractiveness to a potential buyer and of course availibility. If NTL broadband services were not availible in the Shankill area, I fail to see why Tudor Homes would have pre-installed NTL wires in the home.

However, I could be wrong but I would suggest that NTL broadband would be, and is, available to you. I hope this is some help.

I used to live in Castle Farm ( about 6 or 7 years ago ) I would have thought you should be able to get BB there, especially as those new apartment blocks have gone up at the back there in the last few years, it would be crazy for UPC not to have BB available there. I know digital TV availability means nothing when talking about BB, but we had it there all of those years ago I would find it hard to believe that they have not made BB available there.

Hmm.. Thanks for the responses. I can throw a stone out my window and hit the apartments in Olcovar. So, it's either a case of the wiring into my estate (Crinken Glen) not being up to broadband requirements, or simply a case of ill-informed sales-telephone agent...

Anyone in Crinken Glen/Castle Farm? I have requested a call-back from them..

Crinken Glen Doesn't have BB from UPC on the other hand castle farm and Olcovar are BB enabled.

Thanks DingDong. That's a little disappointing. Crinken Glen has approximately the same number of residents as either of the other two sites. Why they would upgrade their lines to the two adjacent sites and halt before the final site, I do not know.

    Back to crappy DSL.

    Hi there,

I lived in Castle Farm (112) last year, and had UPC BB 6meg with no problems at all. Ring back and try to get someone else!!

    Ken.

Thanks Ken. The concensus is that it is available in CastleFarm (across the Road), but not Crinken Glen. Have mailed my feedback to UPC, for what it's worth.
