CSS - Anyone?

What does everyone reckon of CSS, they can be a bit poppy I suppose but I found their first album quite good. Although I got their second album and I find it a tad strange if I am honest, I suppose its something I should have picked up on with the last album, but does anyone who likes them think they swear in songs for swearing sake? I find it very weird the way their songs are worded.

I know what you mean. They went a bit wierd there lately. Well, they were always strange.
Maybe the swearing is a product of their non-english speaking origins.
I always wondered why they were such fans of cascading style sheets. But its a nice little niche they have carved for themselves.

Yup thats what I was thinking , my father when he speaks English every second word is a swear word, but he doesnt comprehend the use of the words properly I dont believe.

This is exactly what I feel CSS do.

First time I heard them I hated them, but I really like them now! They always put me in a good mood when I hear themand they are great to bop along to. The fact that they're different to the majority of stuff out there too is great.

I think they're very good - LoveFoxx is so cool lol I just think it's fun music and I don't take it seriously whatsoever.

Sepultura were a very popular heavy metal band from Brazil. In their early years alot of their sentences and the way they used words didn't sound right, but in my opinion it contributed to the sound in the end.

Their first album is brilliant and they're one of the most fun bands i've seen live.

Album1+Live show makes up for the disaster that is Album2.

I really can't see it growing on me either.

I love CSS! Haven't got the 2nd album yet, but will do soon (reviews I've read so far haven't been great )

As regards the swearing, I read an interview where Lovefoxxx said she hadn't realised how sweary (it's a word :rolleyes:) their songs actually were in English! She said they didn't sound that dirty in Portuguese!

Now I don't speak Portuguese but I imagine lyrics like this gem from Artbitch:
"lick lick lick my art tit, suck suck suck my art hole"
would sound dirty in ANY language!!

Nice band to dance to but I wouldn't listen to them on my own. It's the catchiness that gets them any points at all really.

I'm going to buck the trend here.

Sometimes the hype is just so wide of the mark. Terrible 1st album, IMO. I'm convinced that they don't have a clue what they are singing about half of the time.

I actually think their new single is a pretty good song. Same cant be said of alot of the bands who are hitting their second albums now. I think CSS might be around for a bit longer.

Hate them. Was at their show in the Academy when they played with MGMT and the Futureheads. I go to a LOT of gigs, and this is the only gig I have ever left early! Ever. Out of hundreds of gigs. They just annoyed me. I couldn't stick it.

I was already in a bad mood cos I missed MGMT by arriving 30 minutes after the doors opened after getting held up on the way to the gig; and they were the only reason I was there. Wasn't the only one in that boat.

Ha, and don't get me started on the gossip!!! Another annoying band with a dope of a female lead singer. Saw some of their set them from Glastonbury - lead singer looked like a Ribena Berry

I don't like Beth Ditto as a person but she has a fantastic voice and they write good songs.

Eh, I think FX Meister was actually saying you were wrong in your opinion that they are not all hype, inferring that they in fact are. Well, 94% so anyway.

CSS have a sexy singer and one or two catchy songs. Apart from that, they do not deserve anything close to the fame and success they've been given.
