I’ve read a good bit about it as it used to be a problem.
But I was using cheap Tesco shampoo and it was worse then useless. So I was reading about loads of remedies like vinegar and other weird stuff as it was a serious issue for me. Never tried them out though.

Stick to Head n’ Shoulders OP. After 2-3 washes over a few days, you’ll be sorted.
It’s expensive but it’s a false economy to be buying cheap products.

If you used it twice today, Saturday and Sunday, I gurantee you'll be sorted for next Monday

Nizoral- its expensive(about €20 a bottle) but its only to be used spairingly as its very strong- itsorts out dandruff virtually immediatly!

Personally, I think Head 'n Shoulders is one of the wrost shampoos out there and it makes it worse and more itchy, but that was for me so it depends on teh persons skin type.

My recommendation is you should start using Nizoral shampoo for a week and follow the instructions by letting it sit in your hair for 5 minutes before washing it out.

After the first week, start using T-Gel shampoo. I think this is excellent and really does help. You may need to use the Nizoral every once and a while just to keep it managed.

This may sound like a wacky one. Apple cider vinegar. I know, a bit mad ted. Dilute apple cider vinegar used as a wash has very quickly sorted out dandruff for anyone I know who has tried it. Avoid most shampoos as apparently they screw up the PH of the scalp and skin. I will say I got a bad bout of it a few years back. Tried everything and no joy(nizorol made it worse actually). When they did work I had to keep using them or it came back. Even when they did work they didn't work completely. The vinegar treatment worked like a charm very quickly and it didn't come back. It smells like a chipper for a half hour afterwards but for some reason the smell disappears. Maybe it works by changing the PH enough that the fungus that causes most dandruff can't survive anymore.

TBH I rarely if ever use shampoo now. If I do I use very very little and try to get it only on the hair itself, not the scalp.

As I say I could just have wierd skin, but it has worked for others who have tried it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'm not sure HnS is really a medicated shampoo?

I concur with the Nizoral votes, Dave. It's a bit pricey, but effective. You can only get it in a pharmacy though.

Yep, I had bad dandruff for years and tried everything..nothing worked until i was told about Nizoral. For me I noticed the difference in about 2 days...a bit pricey but it definitetly works.

I actually tried the tesco anti-dandruff shampoo and it worked for me after the first wash! I suppose people are different, but worth a shot in my opinion for the cheapness of it!

I also think Head and Shoulders makes it worse. The only thing that cured me was Zeal shampoo. You can buy it online (just type it into google) I think it's about £8.

Selsun - it stinks a bit (only when your hair is wet) but it works. You'd probably need to get it in a chemist.

head and Shoulders always worked for me but I've heard people who said it made it even worse, itchy as ell etc. My advice is try them all and find one that works for you.

Head n Shoulders always worked for me but you will have to try others to see what suits

The guy who recommended Nizoral got it spot on. Steer clear of the cheap stuff, these seem to give you a bad scalp in the first place.

When I worked in a pharmacy we always advised people towards Nizoral though I've heard that T-Gel is very effective too

I've heard good things about Nizoral & TGel, the only thing to watch out for is if you've put a colour in your hair then you shouldn't use these. For this reason I used head & shoulders and found it worked great. I'd been plagued with dandruff since I was about 8, started using h&s last year, and it disappeared in about a week. I've sinced switched shampoos and it hasn't come back.

If the usual remidies don't work its more than likely you have some sort of bigger yeast infection. Avoid yeasty foods and drinks (bread etc) and if it worsens maybe go see a doctor. Thats only if its really bad though. If it does get to that stage you can end up with things like soricisis, and you don't want that :/
