Question about permanent residency in Oz

    Hi Guys,

I am currently on 457 visa (sponsered visa) , next May I wil be two years on that visa. I have been told by the company I work with that I can apply for permanent residency after two years. Which I am planning to do. My question is once(if!) I recieve PR does that entitle me to return to Ireland for 1 year and then return to Oz again to work with no issues?

My current understanding is that if you have PR you must be in Oz for 1 month out of 12 a year otherwise you lose your PR. I also heard if you stay two years after getting PR then you can spend more than 1 year outside Oz. I have read through the gov website but I cannot seem to get an answer to this question.

Please any replies would be great as my plan is to return to Ireland after I get PR and see what the job market is like and also if I can stick Ireland otherwise I will come back to Oz.

    Thanks

residency is good for 5 years if you never leave the country when the 5 years is up you never have to do anything. if you do leave after 5 years and 1 months you have to apply for a residents return visa that depends on your ties if you spent most of the 5 years in oz its no worries but if you spent a couple months out of the 5 maybe not. if you get it and go home for a year and back with 4 left there no worries
