hi all, I had an operation that required a general anesthesia.I have had about before and no problems. This time,I just seem to be..down, confused, I think its like worn out , in my head but I still have an ok energy level.I cant walk far yet..due to stitches .
How long does it take to ...well be able to remember little things.I forget names,I cant concentrate. What is it.

It's only natural to feel groggy after an operation like that.
If it's truly concerning you, talk to your doctor about it and he will doubtless re-assure you similarly.
It's more important to stop fretting and worrying and relax yourself enough to get on the road to a good recovery.

I had the op 8 days ago and I know I should give it time.I have had 5 other opes 4 the same as this one .But I just dont feel right this time.I am due back in 3 weeks .I will mention it then but It would help if I knew this is normal and it will pass.
    Thanks for the reply.

Considering you've had the same operation four times before and don't feel right this time compared to the others shouldn't you go to your doc now rather than wait three weeks?

Good luck anyway, hope it's nothing serious.

No, I think they expect as would I that I wouldn't feel great.
Its not psyically its mental. The confusion.I think its anesthetic.
I had a section 6 years ago and...it opened up.So I had to go back in have i cleaned and closed.
    Iv had 4 previous , so I was expecting soreness.At least time I don't have the mad hormones to deal with:}}}
    Thanks,

Not a medic. Just a thought / question.

If an anaesthetist uses different anaesthetic agents on the same patient on different occasions could that produce a different post operative reaction ?

Maybe the OP should discuss this with the anaesthetist before the next procedure ?

Anaesthetics seem to be funny things. A mate of mine had major cardiac surgery. For many months afterwards he met people in the street whom he knew but he could not remember their names. He was not worried because he had been warned beforehand. This did resolve itself. Luckily he remembered the tenner he owed me........

Anaesthetic or an effect of the bypass machine? I've seen some strange reactions in patients post cardiac surgery. It's funny, the nicest ones are the nastiest when they're 'not with us'. One of the nurses got whacked over the head with a metal bedpan by the cutest old lady. Another fella I remember, such a pleasant guy, had the filthiest mouth for a couple of days after his op. You wouldn't want to be sensitive around them.

No, I didnt have a hernia, I had a sinus...a tiny tiny pin size opening.I think...but am not sure and infection got it and my scar just came araprt.I know , they doctor couldnt believe it either. They booked me in stright away and I had the surgery 10 days later.Wehad to try and get the infection under some controll.I had been on 5 different antibiotics..
I think my memory is a little better.Still not perfect if under pressure but getting there...I think.
