Bringing dumbbells through security?

Anyone know if it would be allowed? Cannot call them and am flying out in the morning (from berlin to dublin).

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Although I've never seen them specifically mentioned, if they are large heavy ones I can't imagine they would be allowed onboard to be honest.

There are 4 x 2.5kg weights, 4 x 1.25kg weights and two small bars. They are in a plastic case a bit smaller than a laptop case. Not sure if they are what you meant by large heavy ones.

Was going to bring even just half of them (or some of them) or something first but not sure if any are allowed.

Well you'll be well over the weight limit with them for your carryon.

I was thinking of bringing half of them now and half another time which would be under the limit of 10kg with Ryanair. Am just worried about security.

I talked to dublin airport there and they said that they would have to see them first. I think I will just have to chance it through berlin and see what they say. I might just try and bring all of them first and if problems then just bring half or whatever im allowed and leave the rest with someone at the airport.

It will really depend on the mood of the person sat infront of the scanner, the bit most likely to grab their attention would be the bars though I expect. Can you not pay for a hold bag and just put them through that way to be sure?

Would cost about 50 euro (I don't normally fly with checked in luggage). I might just leave out the bars and bring them the next time im flying with checked in luggage.

I would but they were a present from my girlfriend.

Berlin security wouldn't let them throught. Said they could be used as a weapon. Its funny that they let my laptop and 2 heavy external harddrives through even though they could be used as weapons too.
