What format are you downloading in? Realplayer or Windows media?
What application are you using to watch it?

Are you operating the laptop at high performance or power saver?

User Access Control may be blocking the content. Open the control panel, then open the user accounts and family safety applet, then open user accounts and on the bottom you'll see the link to turn off User Access Control.

Here's a link with screen-shots so you won't get lost.

Windows Media player 11 as linked above is already a component of Vista, it's unlikely that's causing it. Assuming you have enough bandwidth on the internet, and the player is properly configured it should be fine.

One question though, I had thought that the content from all the UK TV sites was not available to users outside the UK. Are you sure the content you are trying to watch is available to Ireland?

    Cheerio

Content definitely works in Ireland for 4oD(i use it a bit...)

It did stop working for me for a while when i downloaded & installed IE8 beta, but when i rolled back to IE7 it worked fine... Except a lot of times when i download a show to watch later it won't play at all, so i just stream instead...
