Its just been confirmed that Ch5 will be joining freesat "soon" sometime this year. They have sorted their rights issues out.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitaltv/a114783/five-cleared-for-freesat-launch.html

Freesat managing director Emma Scott said: "Five are coming on this year and we are hoping for an announcement shortly. They would have liked to have been there at the launch, but it was not possible because of rights issues."

Hopefully we will see it on regular STB's while we hang on for a Freesat PVR, now not due until the pre-Christmas period!

You CAN use a FTA or non-Sky pay TV PVR. Just no EPG.

I'm waiting for Christmas, I have two PVRS but no EPG on them for scheduled recording.

Good to hear. Another channel for ROI Sky subscribers to add to their Other Channels list! :)

Off topic: On reading that article, I notice the mention of a Freesat exclusive channel. I presume this to be RTE International (ITV HD can't really count, as it's an interactive parttime channel)

"Freesat managing director Emma Scott told Wotsat that Five has settled issues with rights holders and will set a launch date shortly.

Spin-off channels Fiver and Five US aren't yet scheduled to join the Freesat line-up, as they have yet to decide new terms with programme-makers, particularly the international providers of shows like CSI and Home & Away, she added."

That's annoying about Fiver and Five US. I hoped the entire line up of Five channels would soon be FTA.

Indeed, however a step in the right direction.
