    Nightflight With Francois K - Friday 25th July 2008

Show Information: NIGHTFLIGHT PRESENTS FRANCOIS K ( BODY AND SOUL/WAVE MUSIC – NYC DANCE CLASSICS SET)
    Tickets: €15 with flyer/€20 18+
NightFlight is proud as punch to present an extended set by Francois K, one of the true pioneers of dance music. Francois Kevorkian started his career in New York in 1975, playing drums alongside legendary disco dj/remixer Walter Gibbons at Galaxy 21. His subsequent work as A&R man and remixer at Prelude Records saw him at the centre of the disco explosion in the late 1970's, while his early 80's work at the label is credited with introducing the dub aesthetic into dance music. At this time he was playing regularly at NYC dance palaces like The Paradise Garage and The Loft.
From there he moved into the mainstream, remixing U2, Depeche Mode and Yazoo as well as producing Kraftwerk's 1983 masterpiece 'Tour De France'. He moved back into the dance underground in the early 1990's, producing for famed disco diva Loleatta Holloway as well as touring in Japan alongside Larry Levan.
He then set up Wave Music in 1995, an outlet for otherworldly electronic music of all hues which is still going strong today. He took up a regular slot at Ministry Of Sound in the venue's mid 90's heyday, before running Body and Soul with Danny Krivit and Jo Clausell. This Sunday afternoon NYC session ended up becoming a by-word for clubbing class, spawning 5 highly successful compilation albums and bringing the eclectic spirit of the original disco movement to a whole new generation of clubbers.
Since Body and Soul ended, Francois has run 'Deep Space', a Monday night excursion where anything from dub reggae to minimal techno gets thrown into the mix. He continues to bring his unique sound around the globe, with Irish punters best remembering him for a headline slot in the dance tent at Electric Picnic in 2006.
On the night Francois will play a special, exclusive set for Nightflight which will focus on the classic disco and post-disco dance records he was spinning in the late 1970's and early 1980's. This being Francois though, he's sure to surprise you and delight with a surprise or two along the way!
