Without doubt for me it is the epiphany in Poor Places by Wilco. Keyboards and stuff start to dissapear noise starts to reduce than only accoustic guitar and drums

"And it makes no difference to me etc." Brilliance.
    The eye of the storm

The instrumental at the end of Mr Brightside - The Killers.

The climax after the solo of Stairway to Heaven, begins: "As we wind on down the road..."

That's been described as the Sistine Chapel of rock musical moments.

Pixies - Monkey Gone to Heaven

"If man is five , If man is five If man is five If man is five
Then the devil is six Then the devil is six Then the devil is six Then the devil is six
And if the devil is six THEN GOD IS SEVEN , THEN GOD IS SEVEN , THEN GOD IS SEVEN"

there is some real obvious ones out there. Like when the drums kick in during Phil Collins "In the air tonight" Or Queens "Bohemian Rapsody" (there is about 50 different moments in that song):pac:.

When the Bass kicks in for "Holiday" by Green Day.
Or the Instrumental for "SRXT" by Bloc Party
Also Love the start of "Best of you" Foo Fighters

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 501 ✭✭✭Glassheart

    The Beatles - Dear Prudence

From about 3:18 there is a beautiful call and respond part between Lennon's vocal and Harrison's lead guitar.

    Nice thread...

    Yep agreed classic song moment

Add in the amazing bit whenever they played it live where everybody had hands in the hair first with 5 fingers spread and then 6 and finally 7 while screaming their lungs out.

    Magic.

The bit at the end of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails where he sings "If I could start again..." and it gets quiet but then the synths erupt at the last line followed by white noise.

    Spot on.

*The very start of that Public Enemy classic, Fight The Power. When that first line hits..."1989 THE NUMBER, ANOTHER SUMMA!" out of nowhere. Hits you every time.

    Off top of head...

The bridge (is that what you call it?) in I wanna be adored by the Stone Rose. The bit where they wig out for a few seconds in the middle of the tune.

Same but in Fake Tales of San Francisco by the Arctic Monkeys...half way through where it ups tempo (and he says He talks of San Francisco, he's from Hunter's Bar..)

The bit in the House Song by the Beta Band where they have a sample of someone rapping, sounds a bit like MC Solaar, probably not.

No future fade out of God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols.

What about the riff of Since You've been Gone by Rainbow?

The intro to "Teen Age Riot" by Sonic Youth, and the bit where it ends and the main riff starts (around 1:22)

The intro to "Porcelina Of The Vast Oceans" by Smashing Pumpkins.

The final chorus of "Declare Independence" by Bjork, where it turns into a total rave.

The middle section of Sorglopur by Sigur Ros where it builds into a massive crescendo and then all of a sudden goes quiet.
The song title means something like Lost at Sea. Even though I can't understand a word of it, the music always creates an image in my mind of a little boat being tossed about in a storm and then arrving in calm waters.

Also, when the strings kick in on Pyramid Song by Radiohead and Thom Yorke harmonises along with them.

The begining of "Music For My Mother" by Funkadelic.

The chorus of "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?" by Prince.

Get out of here by thin lizzy, the bass line at the start is Brilliant and the last few lines are great:

" And ive become bitter, but i believe that this is better, not matter, whatever, whenever, we can never stay together "

or the killers, in one of the songs off the album Hot fuzz ( honestly cant remember the name of the song )

where they used the hook line " ive got soul but im not a soldier "

Choras of "Kinky Afro" is great! The end of the backwards version of "Hell Awaits" by Slayer, sly one! :) The bass at the begining of "Peace Sells" by Megadeth. In the video of "5 Minutes Alone" by Pantera, I love when Dimebag drags, then he lifts the whammy and all strings drop, excellent guitarist. First hearing "Children" by Robert Miles.

OK probably not the best but one that comes to mind is:
    Stay Away on Nevermind.
Just after the great drum solo (and before the last chorus) where Kurt just lets out a climactic, primal scream.
Really cathartic- the whole song leads up to it.
