You will NOT change my copy unless you are every bit as multi-ethnic, polyglot, highly strung, self important, paranoid, verbose, smutty minded, given to double entendres and precious as me.

    Absolutely priceless!!!

Once I saw that he started the letter with "Chaps, I am mightily pissed off" I decided I wasn't going to have any empathy for his 'plight'.

Then I read the rest and I felt justified in my decision.

Then I googled his name, realised who he was and felt even more justified than before.

    What a moron.

Is it all that surprising that he has won a "Bad Sex in Fiction" award, for a really rather ghastly description of "noshing"? Or should that be "a nosh"?

    Oh, who cares?

    What a vixer!!

    (It's German. Probably yiddish too)

Sometimes a sub just wants to fit the damn thing in the space permitted. Knob.

His lack of caps in certain places makes me groan with despair too...

Not to mention his spelling mistakes.

Looks like Coren has walked himself into becoming a victim of Muphry's Law.

"I can't think of a nicer place to sit this spring over a glass of rosé and watch the boys and girls in the street outside smiling gaily to each other, and wondering where to go for a nosh."

It appeared as: "I can't think of a nicer place to sit this spring over a glass of rosé and watch the boys and girls in the street outside smiling gaily to each other, and wondering where to go for nosh."

I read it five times without reading the next sentence and still didnt see the diffirence.

**** it. I dont even know what an unstressed syllable is, and I dont really think that matters.

LOL - that reminds me of the time I wrote a cover letter in application for a job with an outline of my skills. One sentence ended with "... and I have a strong grasp of the English languge" :o

Hmmm, was discussing this with some friends today and they shared stories of subs editing the article in such a way that it completely changed its meaning.

Nonetheless, I agree that this guy's a knob.

Took me a couple of reads too - it's the 'a' at the end that's missing in the printed version. His problem being that its removal turned the word 'nosh' into a noun when it was supposed to be a verb, thus ruining his frightfully amusing reference to oral sex. Chortle, chortle.

Yeah - it's not so much that he's wrong in being pissed off it's just the arrogance, self-importance, egotism, pompousness and childishness he shows in his response that makes him such a prick.

Most journalists in that situation might curse the sub and then get over it. If it was a big deal they might go and have a quick word with them - some may even get loud and overbearing about it. Few would write a strongly worded letter.
