    My PS3 hard drive was knackered and I couldn’t format using the PS3 so I removed and formatted on my PC. Now when I put the hard drive back in I’m getting the following message Insert storage media that contains the update data of version x.xx or later, and then press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time

    I have done this and it keeps coming back to the same screen, I downloaded the update and stored it on a memory key and plug the memory key into the PS3 and no joy, keeps coming back to same screen

    Any ideas how to fix this

    Do you have the update in the following folder structure on the memory key?

    PS3 -> UPDATE -> update.file

    Also, is the HDD formated with the FAT32 file system?

    Yeah I have it formatted to FAT 32 but I just copied the file straight onto the hard drive, Ill try that now,
