If the pc's performance is fine for what you do with it then there is no point replacing the whole thing. Just a new hard drive will do you.

But before you go ordering find out if your pc can support sata and pata or just tge older pata standard. And as for silence, all of the new hard drivers are very quiet. I personally find the samsung spinpoint drives to be great.

How do i find out if its sata or pata?
It also seems like the fan goes into over drive and pc runs slow as a result.

Try doing a full defragment on the drive and see if it quietens down a smidgen.

Yeah that actually looks fine. In theory if the disk is defragmented properly it shouldn't be doing aggressive read and writes so hence it should quieten it down a good bit.

Does it sound kindof like an airplane engine or is there more of a clicking noise with it??
