Has naybody done any of the courses in the Institute of Bankers ie QFA's or compliance etc....... I work in financial sector ( stocks etc) and already have a degree in business studies ( which is of no use really) and am thinking about doing one of courses here rather than a masters. Has anybody done any and can reccomend one or found them of use.

I done 5 of the 6 QFA modules, I failed the final one, Financial Planning and haven't been able to motivate myself to sit it again. I done them through the LIA, but members of IOB & LIA sit the same exams. The courses are very well respected in the industry and will always look good on your CV.

    Hi there,

My friend was in a similar situation, and did not want to commit to QFA's so did the ISEs (Irish Stockbroking Exams). They open alot of avenues eg research and give you a structured overview of the entire stockbroking industry.
Only tow exams on one day, Multiple Choice.

Lots of people fail them though so you have to commit yourself to a reasonable amount of study over 2-3 months.

    Good luck!

PS Have a look at Management Accountancy CIMAs too.

got my QFA in May and believe it is well worth it. Five of the modules are multiple choice question exams and are all relatively easy. The last module is a bit of a stinker, Financial Planning, as it concentrates on all the modules. I failed this one in May 07 and could not repeat it until May 08 as wasn't available to repeat it in September 2007.

Working in a banking environment myself, I think it is great to have this qualification! And it looks great to your employers!

You can also choose how long you want to do it over. Some people just do one subject a term. I did 3 and found it pretty ok. (apart from failing one of them!)
