I would whole heartedly recommend the Pioneer PDP-4280XD having bought one myself a couple of months ago. They are ditching the 42" with their next gen Pioneer Plasma range so I'd pick it up pronto. The smallest size you'll be able to get in the next gen models is 50". I would have gone with 50" myself but it's just that little bit too big.

The picture quality on this has to be seen though. I also have a PS3 to watch Blu Rays and have been blown away with the picture quality. If you do have a PS3 get yourself a copy of Sunshine, you want regret it. GTA IV looks the business too.

If you have the dosh I'd also splash out on the LX01 Home Cinema System for HDD recording goodness.

    Cheers,
    TC

Hi. Just wondering if the Pioneer 4280 has a reflective glass screen? I would have to place it in an alcove by a window and am worried about reflections. Also have some lamps in room and would these be seen on screen? Currently have a Philips LCD and no reflections. I havnt seen one but am tempted as every review I read says it is the top tv.

    Ricardfred,

Yes the pioneer does have a glass screen and will possibly show more reflections than your Philips LCD (which probably has the very clever light compensating feature as well) but they are still cracking TV's and are very very difficult to beat.

With regard to the 4280 - this model is now discontinued and (according to Pioneer yesterday) there will not be any 42 or 43" models until 2009 - the new 37 & 32" LCD models are due in August though - these are OEM model but will feature specific Pioneer Kuro technology - as Pioneer have really never produced a duff TV - I cannot wait to see them.
