Click START > Run and enter eventvwr.msc then select the Application option and see if Safari appears in there and tell us what - if anything - it says.

Would it be worth posting this in the Windows forum, where people would be more familiar with troubleshooting Windows-based errors on any application?

We'd be more familiar with troubleshooting app issues in Mac OS (eg: in this case on a Mac, I'd suggest repairing permissions and deleting plist files, but neither of those are relevant in Windows)

Have you updated Safari to the latest version ? A lot of users are experiencing issues with Safari under XP as Google shows - most are using Beta versions which by nature are buggy anyway.

A few things to check: Is XP fully up to date - security updates, SP3 is available now? Have you installed Java and its updates ? Have you scanned for Malware, Spyware etc ? Is your Anti-Virus up to date ? What about starting XP in safe mode and then try Safari, any better ?
