    Someone posted looking for details on Glen Fiddle Week (can't locate it at the moment - under pressure:)) Here's the full monty, as they say. I'd just add that if you're interested in fiddle music in beautiful surroundings with a very friendly bunch of people and the odd drink, then it's a great week!

    Annual Donegal Fiddle Summer School with
    Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí. Mon 4th to Fri 8th Aug 2008.

    This August sees the 23rd Annual Donegal Fiddle Summer School hosted by Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí in Glencolmcille
    since 1986.
    As always it is expected to be a busy week with registration for the fiddle classes on Mon 4th Aug at 10am in the National School in Glencolmcille. The classes cover all abilities and levels of playing from beginners to advanced.

    This years teachers are -

    Tara Conaghan
    Derek Mc Ginley

    Ronan Galvin.
    The classes run between 10 am and 4pm each day






    Fees for the classes are €130 with reductions for children from Co Donegal and reduced fees where there are a number of children from the same family, enquire at registration.

    FOLK VILLAGE CONCERTS - Mon,Tue,Wed 4th,5th,6th Aug, at 9pm.

    These concerts are being recorded for the continuing series of CD’s “ The Fiddle Music of Donegal” and the concerts will feature -

    WED 6TH Vincent Campbell will be a visiting teacher for the day spending some time with a few of the classes.


    THUR 7th Sees more visitors from Glenties, Jimmy and Peter Campbell along with Connie McKelvey and Anne Conaghan will spend the day teaching some of the traditional Dances of Donegal to the students. This will be followed in the evening with a dance in Halla Mhuire beginning at 9pm. This event is open to the public and all are welcome.
    The music will be provided by a live ( mostly ) fiddle band.


    FRI 8th - The last day of the school for this year, the evening event today is our final concert in Halla Mhuire at 9pm everyone welcome.
    The concert will feature a selection of the teachers from the school and a few of the other great fiddlers who will be in attendance at the Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí fiddle week.


    Admission to the evening events is €10 each night or a special ticket is available for €35 which covers admission to all 5 evening events.
