Last night whilst playing on the PC, the whole thing suddenly shut down and the led started beeping. I cut the power, opened it up and saw the CC code which i checked against the manual meant that the CMOS had to be reset. I reset the CMOS from the little pins 123, and also from the back of the box as this mobo has a reset CMOS switch . Anyway, eventually it worked when i rebooted the PC from the power switch next to the LED (it wouldn't work with a normal reboot), but i'm just curious as to what might cause something like that. I had oc'ed it a little but it had been running fine for days. Any ideas?

Could be one of a million things. Temps to high, driver conflicts etc etc.

If you were playing a game, processor intensive, and you have it OC'd then it could well be over heating. You should look for benchmarking software to put the system to the test. There are also boot cds, like Ultimate Boot CD, that contain various testing softwares. You could one of these a go.

the thing is i was playing poker so not too processor intensive, and i have a tuniq tower cooler so unlikely to be overheating. I just found it strange that it asked for a CMOS reset. scared the shi t out of me with all that beeping:D

You probably havent got the system overclocked to 100% stability. Wrong voltage setting, wrong ram timings etc etc. Just make sure you have any personal or needed info backed up somewhere safe. And by safe i dont mean c:\backups
