Bring film on a plane

    Hi guys,

    Will film be destroyed if its brought thought an xray machine unprocessed? Is it better to bring on board or check in?

    Airport X-Ray machines DO NOT damage film or cameras!

    I noticed in a few airports they warn against putting iso800 or higher film through hand luggage scanners. I didn't notice any such warnings in dublin airport however.

    Just make sure to bring it carry-on, and not checked baggage, and you'll be fine. Checked baggage gets a much higher dose of XRays than checked baggage does. I guess you can ask to have it hand checked, I've never bothered, and never had any problems.

    also, keep it in a bag on its own, and take it out and put it through the x-ray machine seperately - wait until everything else has gone through. that way, it won't be held in the x-ray machine if there's something suspicious looking in the bag with it.

    imo wouldnt bring it on as part of the hand luggage. In the past Iv put in the in middle of the main suitcase and wrap it up in clothes. Its worked fine for me in the past anyway. I think a film of mine was distroyed coming back from America, as I had it in my hand luggage bag.

    Other way 'round. As I've pointed out above, checked baggage gets a significantly higher dose of X-Rays than hand luggage. Its highly recommended to put your film into your hand luggage.

    As already advised, put it in your hand luggage and it will be fine.

    Instead
    Put it in your carry on.. and I think the idea posted abouut putting it through the machine when all th rest is gone through is a great idea..
