SUNDAY, JULY 27 - Dundalk Stadium

    Race One, 2.20pm:

    1 Terripan Hanover
    2 Porterstown Jack
    3 Springhill Kate
    4 Papa Joe
    5 Dreams Place
    6 Home ambrose
    7 Destinys Dream
    8 Newtown Perfection
    9 Kouros Boy
    10 The Blue Fox
    11 Bon Camotion
    12 Flashdance

This is one of the best races of the day to kick things off. Despite much competition, I'm going to consider the West Cork star, Porterstown Jack, as possibly my bet of the day. Early doors I know, but this horse should love the surface at Dundalk and will be well able for what amounts to an extended trip for most of these horses - they would generally be more accustomed to racing over a mile whereas all races today are over 1m2f.
    Tip: Porterstown Jack
    Danger: Kouros Boy
    Podium Finish: Springhill Kate

    Race Two, 2.50pm:

    1 Arctastic
    2 Georginas Man
    3 Wap Bam Boogie
    4 Im Just Like Mum
    5 Financial Matters
    6 Peaks Pretender
    7 Scoots Mischief
    8 Bet Your Miffed
    9 Coalford Victory
    10 Fantastic Western
    11 You Bet
    12 Sable Decision

I've boiled this down to two - I'm Just Like Mum and You Bet. I'm going to plump for You Bet as he's piloted by possibly the best driver in the country, John Richardson (as if you didn't know :D )
    Tip: You Bet
    Danger: I'm Just Like Mum
    Podium Finish: Fantastic Western

    ************************************

    Race Three, 3.10pm:

    1 Midnight Mover
    2 Little Spike
    3 Lakeside Dai
    4 Ayr Storm
    5 Hillside Dream
    6 Damotas Warrior
    7 Shes What Matters
    8 Rockaround
    9 Snatch
    10 Im For Real
    11 Porterstown Topaz
    12 All In

Have to hand it to the handicapper, he's done his job well for this card. This one should come down to Lakeside Dai, Porterstown Topaz and All In. You would have to pick All In after a blinding run on a sloppy, rain-soaked track at York Raceway last weekend. Again, Richardson partners. Top call here.
    Tip: All In
    Danger: Porterstown Topaz
    Podium Finish: Lakeside Dai

    ***************************************

Race four, FREE FOR ALL 3.35pm:

    1 Lyons Jospeh
    2 Frisco Titan
    3 Panlubber
    4 Galiano
    5 Earned Income
    6 Stoneriggs Wizard
    7 Toms The Man
    8 Blackwell Rambo
    9 Swingman
    10 Shadow Raider
    11 Harmony P
    12 Ayr Glory

The "Big One" - and what a field it is. I can't see past Galiano here. Bought for €50k last year after winning the biggest race of the year on these islands in Tir Prince, Wales. Blackwell Rambo acted impressively on this surface during May's trial run - an advantage which the favourite (Galiano) does not have. Panlubber has disappointed somewhat since his arrival in West Cork from Canada, but again the venue might bring out the best in the stallion.
    Tip: Galiano
    Danger: Blackwell Rambo
    Podium Finish: Panlubber

    *************************************

    Race Five, 4.0pm

    1 Maverick
    2 Wellfield Adam
    3 Stoneriggs UK
    4 Sabrecrombie
    5 Banshee
    6 Meadowbranch Jo Jo
    7 Man Of Luck
    8 Baron Design
    9 Disraeli Quest
    10 Glenarn Harrier
    11 Spiderman
    12 Bad Girl Hall

In this one I'm going to take another West Cork owned charge, Glenarn Harrier. The grey has a modest enough reputaion and, in my opinion, hasn't got due credit for some big runs of late. A big horse, who looks more like a chaser than a standardbred, will love the 10furlong trip, and knowing his Kildare based trainer, he will be in tip-top condition. Stablemate Man of Luck will be there or thereabouts.
    Tip: Glenarn Harrier
    Danger: Meadowbranch JoJo
    Podium Finish: Man of Luck

    ***************************************

    Race Six, 4.30pm:

    1 Armbro Foxy
    2 Robert E Lee
    3 Steeplejack
    4 Skullduggery
    5 Blackwell Monsoon
    6 Ringo Star
    7 Matty O
    8 Lakeside Banker
    9 Catch The Magic
    10 Seeking The Gold
    11 Artefact

This really is stick a pin it it time (damn that handicapper!), I must admit. Although Blackwell Monsoon does stand out as a horse who has improved greatly with every run this year. Hard to look beyond him, with Matty O the danger.
    Tip: Blackwell Monsoon
    Danger: Matty O
    Podium Finish: Artefact

    ****************************************

    Race Seven, 5.00pm:

    1 The Biscuit
    2 Sean Thornton
    3 Sands Musical
    4 Sands Cool Touch
    5 East Town Angel
    6 Rhyds Mystery
    7 Hilton Hall
    8 See My Reflection
    9 Springill Horizon
    10 Angelas Cosmos
    11 Southwind Pacifica

I saw the three-year-old See My Reflection win impressively on grass in Aberystwyth in Wales last month and I couldn't possibly take him on here. The rumour mill suggests he's destined for the bright lights of Canada's harness circuit. He's certainly bred for it. Sunday might frank his credentials even further.
    Tip: See My Reflection
    Danger: Springhill Horizon
    Podium Finish: Sands Cool Touch

    ***************************************

    Race Eight, 5.30pm:

    1 Hardboy Sam
    2 Meadowbranch Nadia
    3 Now Or Later
    4 Teadies Best
    5 Talavary Dream
    6 Canewood Legacy
    7 All Shook Up
    8 Marion Hall
    9 Azar Hanover
    10 Sky Security
    11 Jonos Bianca

A real head-scratcher. Hardboy Sam has the advanatage of good form and a lucky draw on the rail. Now Or Later comes from a stable with a similiar rep as Tony Martin, shall we say. Marion Hall has undoubted talent. This is possibly one best watched.
    Tip: Marion Hall
    Danger: Hardboy Sam
    Podium Finish: Talavary Dream

    ************************************

    Race Nine, Maiden 5.50pm:

    1 Chesney
    2 Causeway Blaze
    3 Kansas City Shuffle
    4 Oakwood Regal
    5 M&M
    6 Sea Wave
    7 Nice Guy Tom
    8 Willsboro Gold
    9 Tims Surprise
    10 Mr Chapman
    11 Sands Cam Ocean
    12 Revolver

Chesney gets the nod here. Owned, trained and driven by the same man who is not unknown to turn up a good 'un every now and then. Revolver was a late addition and cannot be discounted.
    Tip: Chesney
    Danger: Revolver:
    Podium Finish: KansasCityShuffle

    **********************************

    Race Ten, TROT 6.10pm:

    1 Ontario Launcher
    2 Zorro Launcher
    3 Only Still
    4 Aramis Launcher
    5 Tanja Weilinga
    6 Rubin Launcher
    7 Quarterpast Six

This could be the most exciting race of the day or the most disappointing. The only 'trot' race on the card, I'm going to plump for the veteran 12-year-old Only Still to run these guys into submission.
    Tip: Only Still
    Danger: quarterpast Six
    Podium Finish: Ontario Launcher

    ***********************************

Best of Luck lads, enjoy the day.

Hope you enjoy it Pro. Your countymen from West Cork will be arriving in their droves and you'd have to fancy them for a couple of winners.

One last point of interest lads, I forgot to mention - for anyone who's watching on ATR, the familar voice of Darren Owen - who is one of the commentators at the Aintree Grand National - will be in the booth with Mark Chapman co-presenting the harness racing.

He's a big fan and commentates at harness meetings in the UK regularly.

    Hi Corban

These are the first set of tips I've done really. Be great for you to come - the more the merrier!

Strictly from a gambling point of view, I suppose you would avoid "serious" betting when you're only getting to know the game. But having said that, if you get an sort of a decent price on Galiano in the 4th, you'd be mad to pass it up.
