If you are playing in an Open event away from your home club, is your handicap updated via entering your score / swiping your GUI card, or do you phyiscally have to return your card to your home club?

Your home club should have an Away Records book to enter all your away scores in.
I played an Open recently and the score was uploaded on Golfnet by the away club and appeared under my Away Record. It then got transferred to my Home Record without me entering it in my club's Away Records book

You are meant to swipe your GUI card for all singles comps, home or away. once your score is returned it should be uploaded by the club and your handicap is updated. No real need I think to physically return cards or scores anymore.

As I thought, with all the PC's around in Club's you'd have to assume they talk to each other via GolfNet

    Thanks

Watch out though, there's the odd time that your card may not be accepted or that the round won't come through on Golfnet. Has happened to me a few times this year. In that case you need to report it to your own club yourself.
