    Hi guys,
im looking at starting an in debth study of photography from a legal point of view. Namely im looking to find out about ownership of the image/permission to shoot people/taking photos in public or privately owned locations/ protection of images etc etc etc...
if anyone can point me in the right direction of some reading or websites i would be very greatfull, particularly from an irish and and 'on line' point of view...
    Thanks a million

You could start with Digital Rights Ireland.

What's an 'on line' point of view? Often I find that people's opinions online (when it comes to legal/medical matters) are to be taken with a rather large pinch of salt.

In regards to the legal side - www.irishstatuebooks.ie is the site where you can find the laws in relation to copyright, privacy etc.

The application of those laws can be seen in the court cases and irlii or even courts.ie is a good place to find legal judgments.

But to be honest, if you're not up for looking up the material first hand then a law library should stock some books on imagery rights in Ireland (are you in college?)

edit: to confuse things further - the ECHR and the EU have laws in relation to privacy, and respective caselaw on that too... you did say you wanted to do an in-depth study right?

thanks for the advice so far guys. I've bookmarked the 'digital; rights site' its very good article and the comments are also interesting. If there are any books that someone could recomend from the legal stand point id be very appreciative. Im in an IT Thirdfox if that will help gain access to any particular libraries??

    Thanks again
