Okay folks I need some help here, I am heading to W.A. for a short break in sept.

I am traveling with two friends who only can get 5 days off. I can stay longer, so options in terms of what to see is more flexible for me.

arrive in perth at 1.pm on the 25th of sept, and depart around 4pm on the 30th.

We are thinking of hiring a car and driving up to Monkey Mia or Coral Bay, and possibly flying back. I am just curious of how long this will take?
I know I am pushed for time, but unfortunately that is the way it is.

This is ideally what I want to see.
Rockness Island, Perth itself, Pinnacles, Monkey Mia, Shell Beach, Coral Bay(if we have time)

No I myself have longer, and gonna to go south for a few days when get back to perth.

    WA

A slightly more descriptive topic heading could have been useful.

Either way, it's worth noting that the charter asks that you make the subject as clear as possible. Title edited.

I can basically tell you anything you need to know about Perth.

The drive to Monkey Mia is at least 10 hours so it really isn't worth it if you only have 5 days here. I'd either fly up and back or not bother going at all.

Rottness Island in itself will take up a full day.

The Pinnacles is more realistic as it's about a 4 hour drive north of Perth.

In Perth itself and its surrounds there is plenty to see and do, depending on what exactly you're into.

5 days just isn't enough. The drives are huge and if you rent a car, you're not insured (certainly in a lot of cases anyway) to drive at nighttime outside towns due to the high probability of destroying yourselves and the car by hitting the wildlife which is all over the roads. If you work out the length of the drives, it means you'll spend all your time in a car and no time actually doing anything.

If you really like diving and snorkelling, fly from Perth to Exmouth and go to the Ningaloo Reef - you can drive from here to Coral Bay easy enough. It is really amazing with virtually unspoilt reef unlike the east coast reefs. If you don't like diving, try and get inland to Karajini - it's just amazing.

Monkey Mia is kind of boring really and not worth it imo, unless it's on your way, although the sunsets at Denham are some of the most amazing I've seen. Driving that length of distance to see a couple of dolphins getting fed just seems futile.

Kalbarri is pretty nice and not quite as far up as Monkey Mia, and has more to do in the way of hiking, surfing, windsurfing etc.

Given the timeframe, you might be better off going south of Perth as there is alot more much closer together and if you like vineyards you'll be happy ;) I'd definitely recommend a day on Rottnest - it's a great day out.

How about going south of Perth to Bussleton and on to Margaret River to the wineries??

Definitely go to Rottnest. So beautiful!

Cheers guys, I am heading to Rockness Island + south myself on my own, but will be with a few mates and we wanted to head up teh coast as I heard it is amazing, to be honest I don't really want to spend all my time in a car.

I'll have a look at the flying option. Xavi I might ask you some more opinions next week after looking at more option :pac:

    Cheers guys
